Vehicle Detail
Bid early on this 2000 Jaguar XJ8 in Anthracite Black with a tan interior. This auction is only for three days! Powered by the very dependable Jaguar AJ V-8 engine, this car has a smooth shift and an excellent ride. You can see from the pictures that the drivers seat is showing a little wear, as well as the driver side back seat. Small cracks, no big tears. The paint is in very good condition, and being the Anthracite Black, is highly sought after in the Jaguar circles. (Not a flat black, but a metallic with burgundy, green, gold flakes, etc. A very rich looking black). There are some minor scuffs on the bumpers, but nothing major which cannot be fixed. I planned on doing it, however, I have purchased an XJR with the supercharged AJv8 engine and must sell this one, as I also have another 2000 XJ8, (total of 3). Currently, this Jaguar, along with my others, is a daily driver, and is very dependable. You will find other 2000 XJ8s for sale on ebay for between $6,000 and $7,000. Some for $9,000. My BUY IT NOW is well below this, and the suggested retail value is just shy of $7,000. In 2000, these vehicles were carrying an MSRP in the $55- $60,000 range. In my opinion, the 2000 model year is one of the best years for the XJ8. Ford Motor Company took over Jag in the late 80's and made the XJ into the flagship vehicle for Jaguar. These changes took place thoughout the 90's, making the 2000 XJ a very stable, powerful, and dependable vehicle. With respect to tradition, the 200 XJ8 has the traditional British motorcar chrome, (which starts to dissapear on XJ's in the late 2000 model range). The Jaguar AJ-V8 is a compact DOHC V-8 piston engine used in many Jaguar vehicles. It was the fourth new engine type in the history of the company. In 1997 it replaced both designs previously available on Jaguar cars: the straight-6 AJ6 (or rather its AJ16 variant), and the Jaguar V-12 Engine. It remained the only engine type available on Jaguar until 1999 with the launch of the S-Type, when the Jaguar AJ 6 was added to the list. The AJ-V8 is available in displacements ranging from 3.2 L to 5.0 L, and a supercharged version is also produced. Ford used this small V8 in other products as well, including the Lincoln LS the 2002-2005 Thunderbird as well as in several Land Rovers. The AJ-V8 was designed to use Nikasil-coated cylinders rather than the more-common iron cylinder liners. However, like the BMW M60, high-sulphur fuel reacted with the Nikasil liners and caused engine failures. Jaguar replaced affected engines, and has used conventional cast-iron linings ever since. The engine in this car is excellent. The engine uses a two-state variable valve timing system to switch the intake cam timing by 30°. Newer engines use a more sophisticated system which can vary intake timing incrementally up to 48°. The Lincoln version was made in the United States. Other engine features include fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods, a special one-piece cast camshaft, and reinforced plastic intake manifold. The AJ-V8 was on the Ward's 10 best engines list for 2000. The oil in the car was recently changed to full synthetic, and there is a small leak in the coolant system. The brakes were done within the last 8 months. I had Nally Jaguar go thorugh the car, and this is all they could find. The coolant leak seems to be an easy and inexpensive fix. The headliner is in excelent condition, the transmission shifts very smoothly, and the acceleration on the vehicle is excellent. The sunroof is fully operational - it just needs the clips for the back vent cover - It opens fully and tilts as it should, and the "headliner" is in very good shape. The stereo and CD changer in the car are good, and I had the front speakers replaced 5 months ago. I have two sets of keys. A deposit of $500 is required within 24 hours of placing the bid. Final payment and delivery must take place within 5 days of winning bid, and we accept bank drafts, wire transfers, and cash. Personal checks are not accepted. I am willing to pick up the winning bidder at the Atlanta airport should you want to drive the car home from here. Otherwise, shipping arrangements can be made. Typical carrier costs are between $500 and $800 depending on the delivery region. I just had an XJR I bought shipped from Rhode Island, (approx. 1,000 miles), and the cost was $600. This is your opportunity to own a beautiful Jaguar XJ8 in great condition, and experience for a fraction of the price what the traditional British Saloon car can offer you. I am not a dealer, and can offer no warranty. The car will be sold AS-IS. I can guarantee you that upon delivery, the car will be detailed and impeccably clean. Here are some of the original specifications on the car: The AJ V8 engine was designed to produce: 290 HP @ 6150 R.P.M., and 290 ft pounds of torque @ 4250 R.P.M (This baby will move!) This engine requires Premium Fuel - (Over 91 Octane) - @ 21mpg, this car is very fuel efficient for it's class. Curb weight is a little under 4,000 lbs. I have been averaging a little over 21mpg - Very good within this class of vehicle. G-force makes a chip for the car which adjusts the fuel ratio and spark timing. I have these chips in my other two Jaguars, and have seen an additional 4-7 mpg increase in fuel efficiency. The chip is $70, available online direct from G-Force. I purchased this vehicle from an Audi Dealer in South Florida. It has been a Southern Car for the entirety of its life, and we even have the window sticker. Engine runs very smooth on startup and at idle - (Very important when looking at an XJ8 as it has a timing chain). Spark plugs have been recently changed, and my cars are maintained diligently. The brakes were replaced within the last eight months, and Nalley Jaguar has recently gone through the vehicle noting that the only item of concern was a small coolant leak. Bid with confidence that you are purchasing a great Jaguar XJ8 that will be missed when I sell it. I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time as I have it up for local sale also. Please note that you MUST have a Paypal account to bid on this car. I had it listed over the Easter weekend, and a non-registered ebay user used the buy it now feature and seemed to think I would ship the car without payment. Hence, this is being re-listed. Good luck and happy bidding!
