Vehicle Detail

2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab SLT-Plus 4x4. Adult, non-smoking owner. Clear title. Sold as-is with no reserve. This truck has been used primarily for going to Home Depot and for road trips. 90% of the mileage I've put on this truck is highway miles. Other than that, it has been garage-kept when not being used. I've also tried to wash it regularly in the winter to keep the salt off as much as possible. I'm selling this pickup as I've wanted to get a camper trailer for some time, but the Dakota doesn't have the rating to pull what I now want to buy, so I've gotten a full-size truck to do the job properly. I've only ever towed a car hauler carrying a Dingo (about 3k# total) about 20 miles and the truck towed it fine. I'm the second owner of this truck, and based on the sand I found on the rear frame rails when I first gave it a full cleaning, I suspect it was used for pulling a fishing boat. The previous owner also liked Herculiner, as the rocker panels and pickup bed and inside tailgate were all painted with it. It has been a nice way to keep stone chips and rust at bay. The previous owner had some sort of antenna mount or rack mounted on the camper shell as there are some small holes remaining from whatever was mounted there. There is some surface rust starting on frame, but otherwise, its generally quite clean, especially for an 11 year old mid-western truck. *Everything* works. I've detailed the issues I'm aware of below, but again, this is sold as-is. It's in nice shape, and I would not hesitate to get in it and drive it cross-country tomorrow. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I try to respond to any question within 24 hours. The Basics: 72,408 miles. It is still lightly used so it may have perhaps another 100 miles or so on it as of the close of the auction. 4.7L V-8. Part-Time 4x4 with NV 231HD transfer case with floor shift. 45RFE 5-speed automatic transmission. Complete Rebuild at 68k. 9.25" Rear Axle with 3.55:1 final drive ratio with anti-spin (Limited Slip) differential and optional 11" brakes. 15x8" aluminum wheels with 31x10.5LT15 BFG Land Terrain tires (Complete Set of 5). These probably have about another 15,000-20,000 miles on them. There is about 5/16” of tread on the tires. Heavy Duty Suspension with 1450# load capacity. (Same as Ram 1500) Patriot Blue metallic paint Agate Gray SLT cloth interior Power Steering Power Brakes Power Windows Power Locks with Remote Entry and Alarm Air Conditioning Cruise Control Tilt Column Overhead console with reading lights and storage Rear Sliding Window Bed Cargo Lamp Fog Lamps Infinity 6-speaker sound system with AM-FM-Cassette-CD receiver. 40-20-40 split front bench seat with folding center console 60-40 split fold-up rear seat. Add-ons: Century Camper Shell color matched to factory paint with sliding front and side windows with screens on side windows. Mopar rear floor mat Husky liner front floor mat Mopar Tow Package (Hitch and Wiring harness). Wired for Tekonsha P3 Brake controller. Mopar Plastic bed liner. Line Pressure booster Custom-built sheet goods rack for pickup bed (allows carrying full 4x8' plywood/drywall/building materialsElectronic Copy (.pdf) of Dakota Factory Service Manual. Recent Maintenance: I have all the receipts for maintenance for major service and repairs since I have owned the truck (bought at ~49k May 2007). I change the oil myself and have used only Mobil-1 or Valvoline full synthetic oil and Purolator PureOne 99% efficient filters. I have changed the oil every 5,000 since it is mostly used for long trips and with full synthetic oil. I've used Mobil-1 0w30 in the winter and 10w30 in the summer time. 54,414: Dent removal and repaint of Tailgate – Naperville Dodge. Transmission Flush. Oil Change. Brake Fluid Flush, Chassis lubrication. 58,467: Interstate MTP-27 84-month battery(installed March 2009). Oil Change. 61,583: Oil Change/Tuneup/Front Differential/Rear Differential/Transfer Case service/Cooling System Service. 64,347: Front Brake Disc/Pad Replacement. Raybestos “Professional Grade” parts used. Front Wheel bearings replaced with new Timken units. Front and Rear Shocks replaced with Bilstein Heavy Duty units. Power Steering system flush and fluid replacement. Inline Magnefine power steering filter added. Rear sway bar links replaced. Brake fluid flush. Valvoline full synthetic brake fluid used. Air Filter replaced. 68,402: Complete Transmission rebuild by Dupage Transmission Service of Lisle IL. Installed Transgo shift kit, line pressure booster, and towing torque converter. Replaced front U-joint. With the new, tight transmission, I get about 21mpg on the highway if I keep it under 70. 72,223: Driver and Passenger half shafts replaced with new Empi Units. Engine Oil and filter changed. Tires rotated. Known Issues: There is a small dent in the hood(noted in photos), and a small ding in side of the bed near the gas filler door. The paint isn't broken on either, and neither is very noticeable unless you are really looking for it. There is also some rust starting on the bottom edge of the driver's front fender over the front bumper(see photo). I have completed the 72k mile service with the exception of the front differential, rear differential, and transfer case oil should be changed, according to the owner's manual's maintenance schedule). This is easy to do, I just haven't gotten around to doing it. Dupage Transmission Service recommends flushing the transmission fluid and replacing the transmission fluid filters at 5k after the rebuild, so that should be done in about 1000 miles. They recommend a change every 30,000 miles after that. They(Dupage Transmissions) noted that the front drivers tie rod was on the loose side and should be replaced when convenient. I haven't noticed any shimmy and it tracks straight. When the tires on the truck require replacement, it will probably be a good time to get the tie rod-ends done. Right rear tire has a slow leak. It loses about 1#/week or so. The other 4 tires/wheels hold air well. I imagine it needs to have the tire unmounted and have the inside of the rim be painted. A couple weeks ago, I parked in an industrial area and some jackass stole the spare tire and cut the spare tire winch cable. I have a replacement alloy wheel with a good tire, and a new replacement spare tire winch that need to be installed. I haven't had time to install them. These will be included with the truck. There is an intermittent slight pulsation from the brakes. Since I replaced the front discs with new ones, I suspect that perhaps the rear drums may need to be turned, or a maybe a wheel is out of balance. Disclosure: At 54,414 miles (November 2008), this Dakota was struck on the passenger side. A newer(2004?) Chevy Impala ran a red light as I was making a left turn and hit the Dakota on the passenger end of the rear axle. This damaged the passenger-side of the bed, and necessitated its replacement. As the passenger-side of the the axle housing was deformed due to the accident the rear axle assembly was replaced, the differential was transferred to the new housing, and new axle shafts and bearings were used to setup the differential, so the truck basically has a new rear differential along with the newly rebuilt transmission. Despite the hit to the axle, the rear passenger tire wasn't even knocked off the bead and was even able to be reused. The frame did not sustain any damage, and I have the printouts from the body shop to confirm this and can provide scanned electronic copies of these upon request. The repairs were professionally performed by Naperville Dodge, and I have all invoices and statements of work related to the collision repair. The truck tracks straight, and has had no secondary problems related to the repairs. I've driven the truck for three years since without any complaints.
