Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I am a licensed wholesaler offering traded in and off lease vehicles directly to the public. Before listing a vehicle on ebay, I personally drive it so that I can tell you first hand how it looks, runs and drives. The description you are about to read is my honest opinion of this car taken from driving it. The information contained within this description is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and ability but cannot be guaranteed as I am not a mechanic. I possess niether the equippment nor the technical training required to give a professional condition report. If you would like to kick the tires before you bid, just ask. We can arrange a time to meet at my storage facility. You may bring your mechanic, your cousin or anyone you think may be helpfull. Up for a NO RESERVE auction today is a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta. This one is the GLS model and comes in white with black interior and optional alloy wheels. I would rate the exterior of this Jetta as BELOW AVERAGE. There are some obvious flaws in the exterior of this car. On the rear bumper, the paint is noticably chipped. There is also some body rust. The worst is on the drivers rear fender but there are some smaller areas, too. This is common on Mk3 Golf's and Jetta's. The right side of the grill is broken at the very end. From a few feet, this is a great looking car. Considering the miles, I would say this VW didn't have it that bad. The alloy wheels give the car a more sporty look than most. The tires are okay. All of the lights work. I would rate the interior of this Jetta as AVERAGE. Again, it isn't in bad shape for the miles. The seats show no rips or holes. The carpets and headliner are pretty clean. The best thing about this Jetta is that everything seems to be working inside. All of the windows and the sunroof all respond as they should. There are no warning lights on. The central locking system is working properly. The worst thing about the interior is the boot of the shifter and hand brake are a little beat up. The radio is stock and works fine. The climate control seems to be working as it should. In addition to the owners manuals, I did find some service receipts for this car that show that it was dealer serviced. Being a GLS model, this car has heated seats which are nice for chilly mornings. The GLS model was the only 4 cylinder trim that heated seats were available. Mechanically, this Jetta seems to be a runner. The 2.0L engine starts right up and runs well. Throughout my life, I have owned more Volkswagen products than any one person should own so I am pretty familiar with these cars. Hands down, this is one of the strongest 2.0L Volkswagens I have ever driven. I drove this car for three days before listing it. It keeps proper engine temperature and there are no warning lights on. In true VW fashion, the idle will get a little choppy for a few seconds every once in a while then go back to purring like a kitten. She makes good power and is easy to drive. The clutch feels decent. These have hydraulic clutches so wear is hard to gauge but the pedal moves easy and there is no slipping. It shifts okay, too. I've driven smoother in my time but they also had a fraction of the miles so I would say this one is fine. I saw no leaks under the car. I was told by the person I bought it from that several things were replaced within the last few months. I forget all of them but I can see newer shocks and a newer muffler but I forget the rest. The suspension and steering feel good. The brakes stop the car very well and without any pulsation in the pedal. At highway speeds, she drives nice and strait with no shaking. Believe me, this car is far from perfect but it seems to run strong and drive very well. These cars are hard to find without a mess of electrical issues.
