1982 Honda CR

1982 CR250R in original unmolested condition. I bought this bike new in 1983, and have the original MSO from Honda. This was ridden as a trail bike only, and never raced. The motor is all original and has had no work whatsoever done to it. I maintained this bike meticulously, never allowing the fuel/oil mixture to sit in the bike for more than a couple of days. After a few years, I bought an XR, so this basically just sat. The bike has been in dry storage for well over 20 years. I had intentions of keeping this bike, as it is great early example of the Japanese foray into the "post vintage" liquid cooled, long travel suspension era. It is also the next to last year of the European style left kickers that Honda produced. I recently pulled the bike out, added fresh fuel and oil, and it started right up. I don't need to sell it, but with the recent purchase of a new Husky TE, and other toys, I just can't see letting this bike sit for another twenty years. Again, the bike is original, with the exception of the rear tire, which was replaced when the bike was a few years old. The bike is in extremely good shape, not concourse or show quality, but a great platform for a collector, restorer, or someone who wants to participate in Vintage MX. I was unsure about listing the bike on ebay, as I know I would prefer to see the bike in person before bidding, but I also want the exposure that this site offers. The bike is located in Central N.J. and you're welcome to come look at it. I prefer not to deal with shipping, but will provide reasonable assistance to the winning bidder if necessary. On May-18-11 at 14:09:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I just wanted to clarify some things, and answer some questions...with 87 "watchers" on this auction. The plastic is all original (it does show some signs of its age- light scratches, slight discoloration in some places, etc) The MSR rear fender pack was put on when the bike was relatively new... I did ride it as a trail bike. The front tire, brakes, handlebars, seat, pipe, sprockets, all hoses & cables, etc. are original. The rear tire is not a Bridgestone (OEM), the front is. The rims are true and not bent anywhere, the front hub does have a small area where some oxidation has occurred, the rear does not. No loose, bent or missing spokes. I installed a new OEM air filter prior to running the bike last week. The frame has never been "touched up", nor have the cases or cylinder head. The motor has never been opened up...it still has the original piston & rings.
