Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1978 Trans Am. I purchased it from an elderly gentleman last July. He was retiring and no longer using the car. He purchased it from his son-in-law when it was 2 years old and had own it since 1981 til I purchased it from him last July, making it a 3-owner car. I flew to Indiana, where the car was built (Fort Wayne) and garaged all it's life. I drove it back to Lincoln, NE. and proceeded to have all the belts, hoses, vacuum lines, fan clutch, fuel filter, fuel pump, plugs, wires, cap & rotor and distrubutor replaced. Since that time I have recently had a new Edelbrock intake and 750 cfm carberator installed (kept both originals). The car also has new 3.42 gears in the rear end. It is a factory air car, although the compressor has seized up and will need replaced. The brakes are nearly new and shocks are good. The car is a factory WS6 car per the build sheet (which I have the original, see photo) although they did not go to 4 wheels disc brakes until after 1978 in the WS6 package. Also I have had new exhaust installed with 2 1/2" pipes from the manifolds back to 2 new 40 series Flowmasters with chrome factory tips; true duals all the way back. The car is in overall fantastic condition. I have had most all of the factory panels inside scuffed and re-dyed. The door panels are new from Year One. The car was repainted in 2007 by the previous owner. There is no rust on the car to speak of, except on the passenger floor pan, an area about 2" wide by 10" long, which they welded a plate over prior to painting and installing new carpet in '07. There is a small area where 2 small bubbles of surface rust are forming beneath the paint on the bottom corner of the driver's door and panel just below; both spots are roughly the size of a quarter. Other than that, the car is rust free. It runs and drives fantastically and turns heads everywhere we go. It includes T-Tops with the original Fisher T-Top bags, and the trunk features no rust as well as the original jack, blow up spare, and original carpet pad. I have the original build sheet, window sticker, owner's manual, Ziebart warranty guide, New Car Warranty Guide, tire warranty, spare tire instruction manual, maintenance schedule, original dealer key tag, etc. I do drive the car occasionally on nice days so mileage may change slightly.
