Vehicle Detail
I'm having to part with this 1979 Camaro Z28 that was recently passed on to me. I don't have the resources to give it the attention that is deserves. It's been in the family since 1985, where it was purchased from the first owner. I'm technically the third owner. The car was stored winters and driven occasionally during summer months. It has 35,939 original miles. It is unrestored and mostly original, to include original paint, decals, interior, motor, trans, wheels etc. There are no aftermarket parts to speak of aside from a sunroof, Pioneer am/fm cassette, Motorola eq, Jensen speakers, and rear air shocks, which were all added by the first owner. Since then, the battery has been replaced with a Die Hard and last week I was able to locate 4 new BF Goodrich tires in the original P225/70R15 just before they phased them out and apparently moved the line to Coker TireAlthough the paint is in really good shape for being original, it is still 32 years old. There are some scratches, chips, and minor door dings. The decals are starting to want to peel in some areas. The interior is very clean, although there is wear and tear expected of a car its age. There are no splits in the seats or cracks in the dash pad; however, there are some sun faded trim pieces, like the rear, passenger side panel. The motor is healthy and it starts right up. It has the factory mufflers and has a healthy rumble. The transmission does not hesitate. Additional features: - Cruise Control - Tilt Steering - Power Steering - Power Brakes - Power Door Locks - Power Windows - Rear Defog - AC (blows cold) This could easily be a daily driver or an excellent candidate for an easy restoration. FYI - here is a forum post that I started about it http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=212872 There is a low reserve. Feel free to ask any questions. Good luck bidding! On May-10-11 at 08:49:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Addendum: I've been getting a lot of questions. There is one that I wanted to append the description with, but didn't check the box to do so (see below). Is the vehicle in good condition to drive? And if there is any rust where is it and how bad? As stated in the auction, the car could very easily be a daily driver. Keep in mind that it is unrestored and 32 years old. With said, it is an amazingly clean "survivor" car. As far as rust, there is no body rot or rust holes or anything like that. There fist owner got the car rust proofed at Zeibart sometime between 1979 and 1984. It has always been stored during the winter time. As I outlined in the auction, the paint is original with some minor chips that do have some light surface rust, nothing that is noticeable without a close inspection. I hope this helps. On May-12-11 at 07:55:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Question on May 10, 2011: Is it undercoated? Do you have any orig paperwork? Window Sticker? Hows the headliner? Unfortunately I do not have the original paper work or window sticker. The car was undercoated on the main frame areas by Ziebart sometime between 1979 and 1984. There are no rust holes or rot on the underside. As you may be able to see in a few of the shots, the headliner is loose and would need to be re-glued. It is not torn or damaged.
