Vehicle Detail

Please click on the following link for detailed photos and comments: http://fssrmtmon.no-ip.info/mickey/1962_studebaker_lark.htm Up for auction is an absolutely stunning 1962 Studebaker Lark sedan. This beautiful sky blue Lark is equipped with the 170 ci ‘Skybolt’ inline 6, three speed manual transmission, climatizer, and is optioned with rare factory A/C. The engine was pulled and completely rebuilt less than 20k miles ago. New shocks, fuel pump, water pump, distributor rebuilt, new NOS carburetor, belts, hoses, et… The original generator was replaced with a new alternator and the generator will come with the car. Everything works as it should and cruises effortlessly down the road at 65 MPH. The A/C system will not hold a charge and I never got around to fixing it, but it was the next thing on my list. All the components are there and the compressor clutch engages fine when turned on and makes no funny noises. I’m sure it will need new seals and a dryer. The exterior is just brilliant. The paint just gleams with a mirror type finish and all the chrome as been redone. There are a few small rock chips in the front clip consistent with 20k miles, but looks great. The left rear wheel well has a 2” patch where the paint has chipped off and the left front wheel well has a small hairline crack in the paint (see photos in link). The stainless steel trim is great shape with only just a couple small dings. There is a small dent in the roof that I tried to photograph, but it does not show up in the photos. It is very mild and could be easily removed by a body shop. These are all small nit-pick things, but the car is truly stunning and has won several trophies in local shows. The interior is original and in amazing shape for its age. The front seat does have a couple of small (1”-2”) ‘slits’ caused by the metal frame on the drivers side ‘side’ bolster. It can only be seen when opening the door and aside from that it is perfect (see photo below). I feel I’m spending too much time on the nit-pick negatives (just how I am) and not giving a good enough sense of the overall car. But I want you to know the exact condition of this wonderful Lark. The carpet is in great shape with new chromed sills and the headliner looks as if it is new. The engine runs great, pulls strong and idles as smooth and quite as a sowing machine. I have driven this car on many long road trips, from Texas to California a couple of times and several times to Indiana. Never so much as a hiccup. The Lark is surprisingly comfortable to ride in and has a much larger car feel. I averaged about 25/26 mpg. My best tank on my last trip to Indiana in October was 27.5 mpg. This Lark runs comfortably at 65 mph. It will certainly run faster, but the engine is revved up a bit for a long haul... This is a great car to run around in and can be used as a daily driver. All the gauges, lights, turn signals, horn, wipers, radio, et. work fine. Tires are at least 50% or better. I have owned and been restoring this car for 5 years and has been my pride and joy. It absolutely pains me to sell it. I have used this car as a daily driver and on the weekends enter it in local car shows. She has won several trophies that I will include with the car. This would be a great car for someone getting into the classic car hobby. I hope this car goes to a Studebaker enthusiast that will keep her as stock as possible… The only thing added is a few small gauges to better monitor the engine. Easily removable if you wish. I wouldn’t hesitate to hop in and drive this car anywhere in the US. Fly in and drive her home. But, with that said, it is almost 50 years old and anything could happen. Just remember Kennedy was president when this was new on the lot! - To insure a safe and prompt delivery, you may wish to trailer it. But if you’re adventures like myself; just fill her up, turn the key and hit the road! I have set a very modest reserve that is much less than half of what I have in this beautiful Lark.========================== Remember, if you are the high bidder, you are purchasing this vehicle, not for the opportunity to come out and look at it and then decide whether you want it or not. Don’t waste your or my time, ask questions up front. I encourage inspections PRIOR to purchase. Winning bidder to supply $500 cash deposit within 3 days of auction close. If you are genuinely interested in this Studebaker, please email me any questions you may have and I’ll do my best to answer them promptly. As I stated earlier, I will make the vehicle available for local inspection prior to purchase. This Lark is located in the North Dallas Texas area. The vehicle is being sold as is, where is. No warranty is expressed or implied. All funds must clear my bank before vehicle leaves my possession. This vehicle will be sold for domestic use only and to only to US citizens. No international sales. No international sales or shipping. Please support our troops!
