For Auction is my 2008 Volkswagen Golf GTI. The Basics: The car is Tornado Red with Anthracite (Gray) Interior with Plaid Inserts. It is equipped with a 6-speed DSG Dual Clutch Transmission, Multi-CD (MP3) Changer, and Sirius / XM Satellite Radio. The car is also optioned with a moonroof and front and rear side curtain airbags. I have used the car as my commuter vehicle and have accumulated fairly high mileage. However the miles have been predominately highway and the car is in excellent condition. This has been a great car; I get nearly 30 miles per gallon highway and about 28 miles per gallon with mixed driving. I am including a set of snow tires with the car and with them on the car this GTI has been excellent no matter what the weather. I have never gotten stuck in the snow despite having to drive through some serious snow and ice. It was originally delivered as a lease on December 15, 2008 at Ourisman VW in Laurel, MD. The title is clean and IN-HAND. There is no lien on the title. I will be happy to provide a CarFax at my expense upon request. Condition Mechanical Mechanically the car is excellent. Aside from a few repairs here and there (noted below in Service History) the car has been bullet proof. The turbos are in great condition and the motor and transmission are both strong. There are no odd noises, rattles, or anything else that might indicate coming problems. The engine cover / air intake cracked last winter and was replaced with an aftermarket intake. There is no impact to gas mileage or anything else and it was only done to save cost rather than purchase an OEM intake and engine cover. The car passed a Maryland Safety Inspection less than 1000 miles ago and there were no issues. General Exterior The car is in good condition especially considering the mileage. There are rock chips on the hood consistent with the mileage. There are also a few scrapes along the lower part of the door panels and the "bump guard" on the middle of the door. There is one ding on the passenger's side quarter panel above the wheel from a piece of road debris. The paint is not broken and this could most likely be repaired using a paintless dent removal service. There are a few other spots here and there that aren't perfect and I've tried to show them as best as possible in the included photos. Wheels The wheels are in decent shape but do have some curb rash. They could stand to be refinished by a wheel repair place. But despite them being nicked up I still receive frequent compliments on them. They look great on the car. The CH style wheel is no longer available in this size/offset as far as I know so they may even been a little rare. I have included a picture of each wheel so that you can see them for yourself. Tires The all-season tires mounted on the BBS wheels have about 30k miles on them and have ample tread remaining. The ?WS-60? Snow Tires on the 16" steel wheels have 2 seasons on them and are probably good for 1-2 more depending on how much driving you do. Interior The overall condition of the interior is excellent. The back seats have had very little use and the front seats are in good shape. There are no rips, tears, stains, etc on any of the upholstery. There is one 'chip' taken out of the rubber material covering the B-pillar at about waist height and I've shown that in one of the included photos. The carpets and floor mats are essentially perfect. The headunit works with no issues and all the steering wheel controls function just as they should. This car is 100% SMOKE FREE. Service History The car has had all services performed on schedule either by me or by the dealership. The critical 40,000 and 80,000 mile DSG service fluid changes were performed by Curran VW in Stratford, CT using proper fluids. I replaced the Diverter Valve and PCV Valve about 10,000 miles ago with newer OEM parts as the early designs were known to be weaker designs. Both have been rock solid since being replaced. The Mechtronics Shift Unit was replaced under recall two months ago at Curran VW in Stratford, CT. The transmission works perfectly; shifting smooth and quickly just as it should. The alternator was replaced in March with a OEM VW unit and the serpentine belt was replaced at the same time. The rear brake pads and rotors were also replaced less than 1000 miles ago.
