Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I'm selling my Honda CX500 after owning it for 30 years. I’m the second owner. If you're not familiar with the bike you might be surprised at its power and ability. I went to Nova Scotia and back (2500 miles in 2 weeks) on it, mostly cruising at 65-75mph, without issue. 1978 is the first of the CX model series and a game changer for mid-sized touring motorcycles. It averages 45 mpg on regular gas. It is water-cooled and shaft drive. Brakes are in excellent condition. Bike components are original and nothing is repainted. Color is faded on side covers and headlight nacelle but tank is very good appearance for its age. Has 2 brand new tires (and tubes for good luck) and carb work recently done by professional mechanic. New throttle cable and choke cable. Halogen headlight bulb. K&N air filter. Has original tool kit, owner’s manual, though for 1979 model because the dealer was out of 1978 and said they were alike. It has a “Plexifairing” wind screen.~45" CB antennae mounted to sissy bar with cable running to instrument display area, where a 4-pin power connector is available. Sissy bar moves forward and back and has zippered pouch in back. Always parked in a garage and includes fair condition rayon cover. Chrome is good except for add-on highway bars. Some light rust on black painted and gray anodized parts. (See pictures.) Never dropped while riding, but got away from me once when I was backing it up (obviously no reverse gear.) Overall, it is clean and in very good condition, rare for a 1978 bike. No tears in seat. Should be good for years to come. About 450 lbs. 32” seat height. 58” wheel base. 86” length. 50 hp at 9,500 rpm Just found thousands of parts on eBay alone for this bike and there are CX500 clubs all over the planet. From the Wikipedia page on “Honda CX500”: The CX500 met with a good degree of success. It proved to be reliable and economical, being the least-expensive shaft-drive bike...many examples have gone 200,000 miles or more without any major engine work. Many examples still exist today, and along with the GL Silverwings, are fast becoming cult bikes. There are owners clubs throughout Europe and the rest of the world Full payment required within 5 days of auction close. This is Pick-Up Item and $500 down within 48 hrs of closing to PayPal. Balance could be paid with cash at pick-up within 7 days. Storage fees apply after that. Then again, I could deliver it after paid in full for additional $150 within a 120 mile radius. Also: See last picture. I can sell separately an 8 item group for this motorcycle for an additional $100 beyond winning bid. In other words the group is not included in winning bike bid.
