Vehicle Detail
I wanted a cartoony over the top hot rod on the street, total ed roth carton style. The car sits super low, but still drivable. The motor is 13:1 compression and runs on E85. I’ve sat in Woodward Dream Cruise traffic, 90 degrees outside, and the motor never got above 200 degrees, the E85 runs super cool, but yet has the equivalent of 105 octane. The combination of the compression and the fairly radical cam, it sounds like an alcohol dragster….draws lots of attention, extremely loud, but yet I’ve never been hassled by the cops for it. The car is so obnoxious and crazy looking that I think the cops just let it go. Kids love it, old people love it, its almost awkward the attention it draws. I don’t drive it much, as it’s pretty cramped inside. I’m 6’ 175 lbs, and I fit in it, but I wouldn’t call it comfortable, but for ripping around town it’s bearable. My intention was to drag race it, but to be honest, the car scares the shit out of me. It will absolutely destroy the big meats on the back. I never dyno’d the motor, but dyno2000 software puts the motor in the 600 horsepower range and a little over 600 ft. lbs of torque over a very large torque band. The chassis is jig built, 90% tig welded, and is an absolute tank. The whole car is just plain overkill to the max, I went overboard on everything, no corners were cut, the car is built right and engineered very well. It could use a paint job in the near future, and some body work clean up, one door has some dents in it, and I bent up the drivers side lower part of the cowl taking it off a trailer, but nothing that really stands out. Has a leak at the dipstick, pretty typical with a c4 trans, but I havent gotten around to fixing it. I went to great pains on the chassis so I could use the full length of the 4 link bars hoping it would help the car hook up, and even with slicks on it, it will still just light the tires up at any time.
