Vehicle Detail

BMW R100gs Bumble Bee Serial #WB1048800N0230472 65,000 milesTucson, Arizona I have owned this bike for many years. I was the second owner, bought used at 26,000 miles, and have always used synthetic oils. In the last year have rebuilt the forks (new seals & Progressive fork springs). The drive shaft was rebuilt with greaseable U-joints (an upgrade). Had the transmission rebuilt with a circlip machined to the output shaft (upgrade). The paralever pivot bearings were replaced with bushings (another upgrade). The original Valeo starter has been upgraded to a Bosch starter rebuilt by Motorrad Electrik. Also many electrical components (rotor, coil, etc) also came from Motorrad Electrik. The 20 amp battery was replaced with a 30 amp AGM battery two years ago. The new on/off road tires have less that 500 miles on them. I have also checked valve adjustments every 2-3 thousand miles. What can I say? I am a maintenance fanatic. This bike runs great. All of these upgrades place this motorcycle in the category of being a lifetime motorcycle. What's wrong with this motorcycle? Nothing mechanical. It runs perfect but has a small dent in the tank and a visible repair to the windscreen. Last July the speedometer broke at 60,000 miles and was replaced with a 160 mph bicycle speedometer. Last month I took out the driveshaft, to grease the U-joints (a yearly maintenance), and after putting it together the upper boot tore and was repaired. I have a new boot that will be included with the bike. The bike charges but the battery light stays on. I have a 12v inductive amp meter and can demonstrate that it's charging. Periodically the left light switch gets jammed with the fine sand blowing in the desert. Includes:The original hard bag luggage (with key, one $25 latch is broken) original owners manual Clymer shop manual. If you are lucky enough to win this outrageously cool motorcycle I expect a $500 deposit with three days and that you pick it up within a week. After I sell this bike I will also sell my heavy-duty three rail motorcycle trailer for $750. It has very low miles, is in great shape and comes with metal boxes on each side for parts/tools/oils. Since it was originally listed someone broke the windshield on a test drive... The bike is as tough as they get and just sustained scratches on the crash bars but no body damage. I will be sanding and painting the crash bars this week. The right turn signal had to be pieced together and the headlight guard had a corner slightly damaged. Otherwise it's a great rider, even w/o a windshield. For more information call me on my Verizon cellular phone 307-690-6993 Moving from Tucson to N Phoenix (Happy Valley) this weekend (May 7) so pickup will be in Happy Valley.
