Vehicle Detail

We are selling our 1991 Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible. We have owned this since 2002, and it was purchased in Santa Barbara, and has lived in Camarillo, CA (45 minutes north of LA) since then. It has never been raced. This is my wifes first car and is painful for her to let go, but we currently have 5 cars (3 mustangs!) and since we never drive this car, we feel it's time to let someone else enjoy it as much as we have. As I mentioned we own 3 mustangs, I am active on several mustang forums and basically am a fanatic. I also have a 1989 Notchback which I did a full 4 cylinder to 5.0 conversion on, and a 1997 Mustang GT, that I did a full cobra aluminum 32v motor swap and cobra IRS converison on, myself, in my driveway. To say that my cars are well maintained is a severe understatement. Automatic. Clean title, ~180k miles, Dark blue with a Blue top and titanium gray interior. Mostly stock, passes CA smog fine, KOER test returns clean. (Key On Engine Running, it's a diagnostic self test that checks all sensors and functions of everything on the motor, a great test to see if a EEC-IV foxbody is healthy and running right). This car has had a very thorough brake upgrade from the front to the back, getting rid of the factory drum brakes in the rear, for disc brakes, and the front brakes were upgraded to crown vic police car units, similar to the units used in Mustang SVO's in the mid 80's (same platform). Thanks to the upgrade from the factory 2.73:1 rear end gears, to the 3.55:1 gears, this convertible is pretty quick from a dead stop! The gas mileage was also improved around town compared to before, because the engine is not working as hard to get the car moving from a stop, and the highway mileage remains the same. Brand new, 2 week old Hankook Ventus high performance 245/50ZR16 tires all around (not pictured). Mods: Upgraded trak-lok rear end with 3.55 gears and vented 10" disc brakes 1991 Crown Vic Police Package 73mm steel piston front brakes 1994 Mustang GT brake master cylinder for the 4 wheel disc brake conversion Ford racing disc brake line port conversion, and adjustable brake bias valve (can adjust how much pressure the rear brake receive) Flowmaster American Thunder mufflers welded into the stock catback K&N filter in the stock air intake (air silencer still in the fender) 1995 Mustang GT 3G 130amp alternator, also upgraded the engine ground wires at the same time Maximum Motorsports strut tower brace 2002 Mustang front seats, drivers is 6 way powered with lumbar rear 5 windows are tinted, the rear 3 are darker than the front side windows, like 35% vs 20% if I remember right, done right with 3M tint by http://www.autoobsessions.com Keyless entry/alarm + hidden fuel pump cutoff switch Stereo: JVC KD-HDR1 single CD/MP3/HD Radio headunit with aux input, stereo jack is located in the ashtray area to plug in an mp3 player/whatever Blaupunkt 6.5" front door speakers Pioneer 6x8" rear speakers Issues: -Car was involved in a minor accident in a parking lot, which bent the drivers rear axle and broke a small piece off the body molding behind the rear wheel along with a small dent in that area, I replaced the entire rear end/axle/diff (with the 4 wheel disc brake / 3.55 gear upgrade) but left the very minor body damage, it's just a small dent that's hard to see under the mold line. I was quoted $300 to repair this.-Ashtray door spring is broken-Speedometer is a little funky, on the freeway it reads ~120mph, but at speeds under ~45mph it works fine, I replaced the speedometer gear in the trans with the gear change, so I feel the problem is the speedometer head in the gauge cluster, which should be an easy $25 junkyard find.-Drivers side outside door lock key does not work, a key broke off inside the lock, but with the alarm/keyless entry it shouldn't be an issue. -A/C pressure is low and needs to be recharged...never bothered because if you get hot just drop the top! We were quoted $180 to recharge this. -Top is worn, has a few tears, leaks, and should be replaced, but it operates up/down perfectly, the top motor was recently replaced and the hydraulic fluid replaced/bled. We were quoted $750 for a new black top with new glass rear window.-Drivers side rear window needs a new regulator, it usually works but occasionally has trouble raising the window back up. These are pretty cheap to find and replace, $25. -Previous owner ran a bra on the front of the car and the paint has a lot of little scratches around that area, I tried everything I could think of and couldn't repair them, they're minor enough to live with. Bra is included with the car so if you put it back on you'll never notice. -There is some bubbling around the base of the antenna.-Carpet has some staining These issues I feel are all quite minor other than the top being worn out, but should be expected for a 20 year old convertible. I feel the condition of this car is above average compared to other 5.0 convertibles that I have seen. I have adjusted the price of this car to reflect the fact it should have ~$1000 worth of repairs to be in fully presentable condition (top replaced, dent repaired). Here are a few pictures, some are from a recent car show that the car was entered in, at Ponies By the Sea, at the Ventura Harbor in October of last year. I also am including some pictures with the interior of the car removed from earlier this year, I went through the entire interior and steam cleaned everything, I wasn't able to get all of the stains out of the carpet, it seems the adhesive holding the padding behind the carpet is what is staining through from underneath. You can see that there is no rust anywhere on the car, which is to be expected from a car that has always lived in SoCal.
