Vehicle Detail
I'm a straight shooter and this vehicle needs some work. I've taken pictures to show all damage I'm aware of on the car. I blew the engine, threw a connecting rod, and put a hole in the block so you'll need an engine. That is the only mechanical issue known. The other damage is cosmetic and can easily be fixed. The bumper was damaged when the auto transporters were bringing it to my house. The windshield wiper blade, foglight, and front undercarriage were damaged while sitting at a repair location. I accidentally knocked off the BMW roundel with a pressure washer. The moulding around the windshield is normal to deteriorate over time. The cupholders on E39's are notoriously bad and there is damage to the right side. In the back, there are a few louvers missing from the rear AC vent, but the unit is operational. The 16-way electric driver's seat is fully functional, but I never put the button back on after I bought it. I had the vehicle on salt and removed as much as I could before it was transported to Texas and that's what you notice on the brakes and wheels in some spots, but anything on the brakes should come off when driven again. Now for good stuff. This car is awesome. It has all the features you see here and you just can't beat a 4-door luxury sports car. There is Magnaflow exhaust with X-pipes on the back and the top speed limiter was removed with a Shark Injector. It hasn't been put it on a dyno, but if purported horsepower numbers are correct, this car was running about 443 HP. I never tracked it as the 3rd owner, but the previous owner ran a 12.9 1/4 mile when it was still stock at 394 HP. All of the electronic elements of the car run great (Heating, A/C, navigation, audio, etc). and the interior is great. This is a great chance to own a somewhat limited number vehicle. They only sold 10K of these beasts between 2000-2003 and many people prefer the E39's to the new E60's. They only sold 10K of these beasts between 2000-2003 and many people prefer the E39's to the new E60's. This car is also being advertised locally and the auction may end early. On Apr-26-11 at 13:17:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I don't know what is causing an accident to be reported on the car. I still have the Carfax when I bought it and there weren't any reported then. I can only think somebody reported an accident because I blew the engine, but the car hasn't ever been wrecked. I bought 2 rear Falken 275/35R18 tires and a new battery at 113K and changed out the Final Stage Unit (Heating and AC) and put in a new AC panel at that time and had the rear oxygen sensor replaced. There was a lot of VANOS/engine compartment work done at around 110K and the car should be good for parts for quite some time as these things seem to need a lot of work to be done between 80-110K miles. On Apr-26-11 at 13:32:46 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to add that the clutch and flywheel were changed at 110K. The guy I bought it from had all kinds of ECS Tuning diagrams for the VANOS, timing, oil pan, ventilation, cylinder heads, belt drive, crankcase, radiator/cooling system, emissions, intake, throttle housing assembly, water pump, alternator and besides the VANOS, he did some work on the timing. He did a lot more work on the car in the last 30K miles than what I have parts receipts for. I also had the fuel tank ventilation pump replaced, but he did all the dirty work for major repairs that the car would need before I bought it. On Apr-26-11 at 17:04:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I have the car advertised locally and have a bidder that has offered more than the current price, but I want to see what the market holds for this car. I appreciate the other offline bids that beat the current price and am keeping them in mind and do reserve the right to end the auction early, but I need to know where people stand. If I do end the auction early, I'll only ask for the winning bidder to pay a little more than the highest of all bids in ebay and offline and not necessarily what their max offer is, but that is a dilemma for all of us. I prefer that people do their bidding on ebay, but I understand the game. I've bought a lot of things on ebay and want to get things as cheaply as possible, but I'm the salesman this time and want as much as possible. If I'm going to end this early, I need an offer that will blow me away (I sell happily and you don't have to react to what the market might hold) or otherwise, I'm more than willing to let the process play out and that puts you guys in the position of getting your bids in early or being on the computer at the time the auction ends. I've seen too many ebay auctions have prices blow up at the end to fold very easily and stop the auction.
