Vehicle Detail
2000 Honda Odyssey Bad Transmission, (but drivable) Everything else on this Odyssey in very good mechanical condition. It had been regularly maintained and always repaired when something went bad. To make a long story short: I purchased this from my brother-in-law who in turn inherited it from his father this Fall. I purchased it without test driving it since I knew the vehicle was always well taken care of and I had driven in recently some months earlier. After titling, registering, insuring it and putting it on the road I realized that the trans wasn't shifting properly, everything drove fine, the engine has "Gobs" of power but the trans was just not right, so I brought it to a trans shop to check it out. They tore it down was told that it would need a minor rebuild of "soft Parts" clutches, bands, etc., but they jerked me around for weeks without getting back to me, etc., so I got pissed and told them to put it back together as-is and give me the car back. They did and now it has very little reverse; it will back up but slips terribly, it drives in 1st and second gear perfectly fine but sometimes when in 3rd gear it will slip out and you have to go back down to 2nd using the shifter. it currently has no 4th gear or overdrive. I was able to drive the car around to move it from place to place using 2nd gear (it will do 50-55 in 2nd without the engine going over 3500 rpm). I just want to get rid of it. and recoup a little of what I have invested into it. I am going through a divorce and no longer have a garage (or house for that matter) to swap out the transmission myself and I don't want to pay someone else to do something I can do only to sell it anyway. So my loss (due to my pride) is your gain! The Odyssey is sold AS-IS, no warranty or guarantee but if you can swap out the transmission with a junkyard unit or have the skills to rebuild it yourself, or just bring it to a transmission shop you can have a very good. reliable and strong Honda Odyssey at a very good price! Before I brought this into the trans shop I had a $300+ super detailing performed on the car so it is very clean inside and out, there are a couple of minor dents that do not affect to operation of the car and are not majorly distracting to the overall visual appeal of the car. They are all detailed in the pictures. I can send you higher resolution pictures if needed. The car is available for inspection in the parking lot of my apartment complex. If you are local you can swing by anytime to get an exterior visual otherwise you can contact me and make an appointment to do a full inspection of the car and test drive it, it is fully registered and insured. This is the model with all the bells and whistles for the model year so it has all sorts of features that I am not bothering to list here but you can probably just Google "2000 Honda Odyssey EX" to see what the features are. The car also has a Class 3 hitch and trailer wiring ready to tow your boat, RV or other trailer. Tires are like new, recently tuned, etc., etc. etc., I think it is a fair bet to say that repairing/replacing the transmission is all this car needs for quite some time. Less than one week before I brought it to the shop to check the trans it passed the New Jersey State Inspection test with flying colors, so emissions are great and a testament to the operating condition of the engine. If you are a NJ resident, you won't have to get this inspected for another 2 years! Shipping/Transportation I am not getting involved with providing transportation services for the vehicle if it it going to have to transported out of state (out of New Jersey) or even the farthest extents. I no longer have my car trailer so I can not transport it myself. if you are close enough I would be willing to drive it to your location (this can be discussed, if I feel comfortable with the distance and have free time on my schedule I MAY assist you in this manner but it is not to be an expected part of this auction). If you are bidding on this auction, please do so with the frame of mind that you are solely responsible for removing the vehicle from it's current location within one week of the end of this auction. Shipping/Transportation I require payment to be received within 3 days of the close of auction. CASH - I prefer cash, I will be checking for counterfeit bills so be sure to check them yourself because I will not release the vehicle unless they all pass the pen and UV light test. Just a word of caution, in my past 20 years of dealing with buying/selling big ticket items, I have come across occasional counterfeits and one of then was even passed to me by my own bank but since I didn't check it in the branch in front of the teller I was out one, one hundred dollar bill, to add insult to injury they kept the bill afterward so I couldn't pass it. Don't think your bank would do that? Think about this; it is not the "bank" doing it, it is the "newbie" teller who didn't catch the fake bill from another customer... that teller would be eating that out of their pay if it was not the first time they made the mistake, so what to do, what to do? Pass it back to another unsuspecting customer because they trust their bank and will not check it, especially right in front of them! Learn from my mistake. CHECKS - If you are local enough and can wait for your check to clear my account first, I will accept a personal check. If you come with a cashiers check/bank check, it will have to be during a day/time that I can still drop it off at my bank to confirm it is legitimate. I have heard of too many stories to take any risks. Yes I can follow up with a lawsuit, etc., but that cost me time and money and it isn't worth the aggravation for this amount of money, but it is also enough money I am just giving away a car because I'm lazy. Either way, the car will not be released until there is cash in my account with a bank confirmation of it. I recommend bringing cash that you double checked with a counterfeit pen (get one with the UV light on the other end {less than $10}). RESERVED RIGHTS - The vehicle is also listed for sale elsewhere and has a For Sale sign in it. I reserve the right to sell the vehicle before the end of this auction if I get an acceptable offer over $2150 from a buyer off the street if this auction hasn't produced bids. Feel free to contact me about details and locations of car for inspection. On Apr-19-11 at 12:02:41 PDT, seller added the following information: ODOMETER - I totally forgot about this when I made this listing. The vehicle truly has 125,554 miles on it, but when I titled it I got a smear on the back which went across the box that you are supposed to check if the mechanical limits were exceeded. I would have had to have the estate of my father-in-law apply for a new title and wait a few weeks to get a new title so i could title it without that mark. I figured I would just drive this car into the ground so I didn't care and told them to just title it that way. If you doubt the honesty of my statement, look at the odometer, it has 6 places, that would mean that the car has 1,125,554 miles on it in 11 years... does that look like a car with over a million miles on it? Sorry for being lazy and not getting the title fixed originally.
