Long story short my friend literally bought this vehicle out of a barn in south carolina about 4 months ago. His intention was to restore it for his daughter to have something fun to drive. But we came to the conclusion that down draft carbs and 16 year old girls dont belong together. She wants a Miata and we want this car to be saved by an enthusiast that knows how to work on them. We ordered and waited 6 weeks for a heritage certificate to verify that this vehicle has all of the original numbers matching equipment and it will be included with the car. Exterior: Body #23706. Comes with a new soft top and the sought after original Aluminum hood which is very very light. The body looks straight as well as the frame, no wrecks to my knowledge. The paint looks like a cheap re-spray but the original Iris blue still resides in the engine bay and interior. One of the original battery trays has rusted through. But the main point of concern is the drivers front leaf spring mount. It has been repaired with angle iron so you can move the car around but I would suggest you have it professionally repaired before driving. The rest of the body is in ok shape, the car can be saved. Interior: The carpet, the seats, and the door panels have all been replaced. The original dash is still in good shape and all of the original gauges + switches still work. The original wiring harness is in good shape, all the electronics work like they should. The original battery tray cover is still there, it needs love but it is a good starting point for a restoration. Mechanical: Engine #18G-U-H/24973. This is the original 3-Main engine which are becoming increasingly rare. Here's the best part.......it's fine. But it does not currently run. Simply needs fuel work, but other than that it looks to be in great shape. Turns over fine and has solid even compression. Tested within 2 psi difference between cylinders at an average of 151 psi. Turns over smooth and sounds like it has plenty of compression, but it is not getting any fuel to the carbs. You can hear the fuel pump kicking on when you turn the key on, the fuel gauge says it has a 1/4 tank. I seriously haven't even tried putting gas in the tank. It's possible the gauge is bad and it just needs gas, or possibly a fuel pump, either way the engine just isn't getting gas. The clutch feels good, the brakes feel good and work fine, the transmission shifts into all gears no problem. The suspension all looks like it's in decent shape. Mechanically this car is a gem for an enthusiast looking to restore an original numbers matching 3-main car. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
