***NO RESERVE*** *** HIGH BID OWNS GET IT*** NO RESERVE *SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY* NO RESERVE EXTREMELY RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A PIECE OF VINTAGE DRAG RACING AND HOT ROD HISTORY This is the ORIGINAL SHINHOLSTER AND LEHMAN CC/CG 1940 WILLYS. Out of the 3 FAMOUS Chopped Top Willys (Shinholster and Lehman, Grist Bros., and Jim Kirbys Challenger 1) this is the ONLY UNRESTORED ONE. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW A TRUE STEEL BODIED COUPE, 2X RECORD SETTING UNRESTORED TIME CAPSULE LIKE THIS?? * 2X NATIONAL RECORD HOLDER * CLASS WINNER OF THE 1970 GATOR NATIONALS (First year held) * WEARING ITS ORIGINAL AS RACED PAINT * ORIGINAL AS RACED INTERIOR * ORIGINAL AS RACED REAR END AND WHEELIE BARS * ORIGINAL AS RACED VINTAGE FIBERGLASS FRONT END * ORIGINAL SUSPENSION * VOTED VALVOLINE'S BEST APPEARING CAR FOR DIVISION TWO 1969 * FEATURED IN HOT ROD MAGAZINE 1970 * FEATURED IN POPULAR HOT RODDING MAGAZINE 1970 * ARTICLE IN POPULAR MECHANICS MAGAZINE 1971 * LOTS OF VINTAGE PICTURES ABOUT THE ONLY THING THAT HAS CHANGED SINCE 1970 IS THAT THE "AS RACED" MOTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED TO MAKE IT DRIVEABLE. This 1940 Willys CC/GS drag car was campaigned during the late 1960s and early 1970s by the ever competitive team of Shinholster & Lehman, from Titusville, Florida. Around 1971 the car was sold to Chuck and Gary Grach in Poland, OH owners of Grach Bros. Speed Shop and raced by them into the mid 1970's breaking into the 9 sec. range, after that the car was raced and stored until 1999. Among its many racing victories and class records, the car set a quarter-mile time of 10.135 seconds with a trap speed of 136.57 miles per hour in 1970 and another of 10.26 at 136mph, powered by a supercharged 292 cubic inch Chevrolet engine. The car was also the subject of a feature article in the September 1970 edition of Popular Hot Rodding and the January 1970 edition of Hot Rod Magazine along with an article in the January edition of Popular Mechnics. (Magazines go with the car). The car remains pretty much untouched except for the engine/trans swap and the addition of the charging system. Currently powered by a 327 with a tunnel ram and single 2 barrel backed by a Torque Flite Automatic. The car could be driven on the street and was licensed in Oklahoma by the gentleman who owned it previously to me. Personally Id built a period correct "as raced" engine and show the car. The paint is old but has held up nicely its is checking in places and its cracking/ flaking on the top of the roof area but by no means should this car be painted or restored its a time capsule of history! The interior is VERY VERY nice and looks much better than in the pictures it still has all the Stewart Warner Gauges, Gas and Brake Pedals, Carpet and Uphosltery. Under carriage very clean and is also all original and it runs on the original frame that has been strengthened. Originally raced with a 283 Small Block Chevy with Crane Heads and Custom Made Rocker Arms and Norris Pushrods, lifters and a 607 roller cam, Mickey Thompson Aluminum Rods, Venoila Pistons, DuCoil Ignition, Kustom Headers, Hiborn four-port injection, and a 6-71 Hampton's Super Charger backed by a Clutch Flite Transmission. I really don't know what else to say about the car other than if you've every wanted a UNRESTORED REAL GASSER WITH HISTORY this might be one of the few times one comes available. If you have any questions please feel free to email or call me, I can be reached at 507-208-0191 from 9am to 9pm central time. VINTAGE RACE CAR ***SOLD ON BILL OF SALE*** Car is sold as is, I can help arrange shipping at the buyers expense, Serious buyers only serious please. FULL PAYMENT DUE WITHIN 5 DAYS UNLESS WE WORK SOMETHING OUT PRIOR TO AUCTION CLOSE. **Cars like this very rarely come available to the public most are in museums or large collections and trade hands privately**
