We are very happy to offer at auction this 1980 Mercedes-Benz 450SL with 50,978 original miles. We have had other 107 Chassis Mercedes SL class cars with as few as 17,000 original miles, but we can safely say that this car performs in a similar manner as those, and is barely broken in. A car with this level of miles is a true joy to drive, with lots of power and absolutely great manners. We also see SL mileage levels in the 250,000+ range, so this car should last well into the 22nd Century (??!!) at the mileage rate it has covered. We perform our customary check over and fine adjustment procedures, done by a local Factory Trained Mercedes-Benz Technician. He worked on these cars when they were brand new and can see and feel quickly when a car is in proper operating order or not. This car went through the check over procedure with high marks, and received basic fluid and tuning procedures. It is absolutely ready for use on every level and truly showcases the usability and maneuverability of this type of car. Ease of parking due to it's compact size shows that parking can be fun. Effortless acceleration to freeway speeds attest to legendary Mercedes-Benz balance and engineering. We have fun EVERY time we drive an SL like this and we think you will too. Gauges / lights / steering / brake and other systems all tested and worked properly when tested. Tires are at approximately 80%. Last but not least, this is an original California car, as evidenced by it's registration history and original "blue and yellow" license plates. This of course means: you guessed it-- NO RUST. We see a variety of cars needing structural rust repair and we never get involved. Cars like this only reinforce this thinking... The soft top is in excellent original condition.
