THEDAZZLE HEARSE More photos below 1983 Buick Hearse • Eureka Conversion • Insane Paint Job Ever wanted a truly unique car? The kind you could call a work of art? Description: The Dazzle Hearse is a 1983 Buick hearse that I've owned since 1999. It has 111,379 miles on it now, and had 50,133 miles on it in 1999. All hearses are custom-modified from a current luxury vehicle; this one is a Eureka conversion. The hearse RUNS and hasn't needed any major engine repairs for a few years. However, there are many problems with the vehicle you should be aware of. The buyer of this vehicle can drive this hearse home -- but to be a reliable vehicle, some repairs will be needed. A detailed list of known problems is below -- read it! This hearse has held strong for the 11 years I've driven it, with few major repairs to the engine needed. Over the last 3-4 years it's been driven very little, but run at least once a month to maintain the engine. Repairs in the past few years include replacement of all four suspension springs, a couple new tires (spare is included), and replacement of the exhaust system from the engine back. The V8 engine (automatic transmission) is plenty powerful, yet surprisingly good mileage -- about 17 MPG highway / 12 MPG city when I last calculated it about 4 years ago. The interior is a very 80's combo of fake wood grain and blue seats & dashboard. The rear interior has blue velveteen walls and ceiling over a fake wood coffin bed with two lines of coffin rollers. The stainless steel coffin stopper is included. The interior is well-worn but not seriously damaged; for example, no rips in the fabric covering the seats, ceiling, and walls. Bumper to bumper, the whole thing measures 21 feet long. Oh yeah, the paint job... As if a hearse isn't already an eye-catcher, I decided to paint mine dazzle style (see below for more photos). Dazzle Painting was a style of camouflage used for battleships in World War I -- psychedelic, yet military. And so far it's worked -- in 11 years, the Dazzle Hearse has never been hit by a torpedo. It's also gotten fan mail and made countless people smile. And yes, the curtains are custom-made to match the paint job. (Thanks mom!) I've dearly loved this vehicle; hearses are a great ride and extremely well cared for during their professional "life". I've now purchased a newer big vehicle to play with, so it's time to let the old one go. Actually it hasn't failed one, either... but I strongly suspect it would not pass, so I've always kept it registered in Ohio.
