Vehicle Detail

My dad bought me this car in the spring of 2005, right when I started grad school. My Ford Focus had just been totaled by an uninsured driver, and I had no money for a new car. So he helped me out. My dad was an eccentric person, and unbeknownst to me he did not always keep up on the payments. On New Year's Day, 2009, I went to visit him. When I walked out of his house the car was missing. It had been repossessed. He was a little embarrassed, but we found out where the car was and a week later he paid it off in full. Funny guy, my dad. He died in June of 2009, and I bought a 2010 Hyundai Sonata with some of the money I inherited. I planned to sell this car quicker, but I was not able to get the title transferred into my name until a couple of weeks ago. I will not go into how elongated, frustrating, and tedious that process was. I will just say that I now have the title in hand. The first thing I did when I got the car was replace the antiquated cassette player with a nice Sony CD player. It makes the stock speakers actually sound pretty good, and of course I made sure it came with a jack to plug in an ipod. I took good care of this car. This car helped me quit smoking. When I got it I decided not to smoke in it because I didn't want to ruin the new car smell. I soon realized I had done over half of my smoking while driving, and so just not smoking in the car was a huge step toward quitting altogether, which I did within two months of getting this car. I also did not allow anybody else to smoke in it. I kept up all the maintenance: 15,000 mile tune up, 30,000 mile tune up. I got the oil changed every 3,000 miles. I put a new battery in the car in August 2010. I replaced the tires a couple years ago and have hardly ridden on them since. You can see them in the pictures. After over four years of trouble free driving, the car broke down in August of 2009. I got it fixed under warranty. The dealership, with whom I have had a good relationship for years, told me that there were some things that needed to be fixed that were not covered under warranty. So I spent $1,191 in repairs in November of 2009 in order to make the car a more attractive buy. That included the replacement of the timing belt. I have all the paperwork to document this, and I also have the business card of the woman at Henderson Hyundai who has taken care of my cars for years. She said she would be happy to talk to the winner of the auction and verify the history of the car. I have only driven the car 500 miles since I had the repairs done in November of 2009. I have just been waiting to get the title so I could sell it. I had it detailed last week. This car has been well taken care of, I have the documentation to prove that it has been well taken care of, and there is no reason that it cannot be a reliable vehicle for many years to come. It gets good gas mileage, (a definite plus nowadays), and it only has 58,381 miles on it. As for cosmetics, there is some minor paint chipping above the front left tire. Perhaps I am simply not observant, but I literally didn't notice this chipping until I was taking pictures of the car to sell it. I have included a picture to show this chipping. There is also a little chipping around the keyhole in the driver side door. Apparently I was in a rush a couple of times trying to put the key into the door. In the summer of 2006 the steering wheel started to chip because of the hot Vegas sun. I put a steering wheel cover on to prevent further chipping and to cover up what chipping there was. Lastly, in late spring of 2007, I left a sprite can in the passenger seat while I went to work. When I returned to the car the sprite can had exploded, once again due to the hot Vegas sun, and the ceiling of the car looked a little blotchy. I have since had two detailers work on it, and it is very difficult to notice any more. I have included a picture of the ceiling of the car so you can see for yourself. I don't know a great deal about how cars work; open the hood and I'm lost. But here are the basics about this car: Transmission: 5 Spd Manual Stick Shift Engine: 2.0L L4 MPI DOHC 16V Gasoline Drivetrain: Front Wheel Drive I enjoyed driving this car and have many fond memories of it. I hope you will enjoy driving it and have some fond memories of it yourself one day.
