Items added at time of purchase from the dealer: New Painted-to-match front air dam, rear skirt, lip-type rear spoiler and red painted rocker panels. I am selling this car as I have 5 others including another Miata. I hate to sell it, but I need the room. This car was my daily driver up until 2004; then I only drove it on weekends and to car club events. I have the car insured with Hagerty collector car insurance. To qualify this car for that type of insurance it has to be garaged and driven less than 3,000 miles a year. I have owned 5 Miatas, the Founder and past President of my local Miata Club and I also did work for Miata Magazine (former Miata Club of America) as the History Editor. I am very knowledgeable about 1st Generation Miatas. Condition I would rate this Miata a 4 out of 5. This car has been Garaged and covered for the last 11 years. No rust and has NEVER been in an accident or smoked in. All the maintenance was performed by my self and I kept an engine log book for documentation - just like an airplane. The pages of the log can be seen in the link to all the pictures. Never had a front license plate mounted. This is important if you are shopping around for a Miata as the factory front plate mounting hardware rubs against the front of the car and scratches/dents it. This car is ready to be driven cross country after the sale. The air conditioning works and is ice cold. NEW: Tires with less than 50 miles on them Oil & filter change RECENTLY ADDED: Robbins glass window tan vinyl top with matching window tint. This top has less than 1,000 miles on it and has always been garaged. All metal, aftermarket radiator with a lifetime warranty from Flyin’ Miata Dynamat installed Leather upgrade seats. Aftermarket leather seats are much better than factory ones AFTERMARKET ITEMS: One-of-a-kind Low Profile Headlights that utilizes DOT approved single high, low beam sealed units. These were scratch-built by myself and were featured in Miata Magazine in 1996. The sealed headlight bulbs can still be found at auto parts stores for replacement. Also the headlights can be returned to stock type if desired. 14 inch Panasport Wheels Racing beat lowering Springs (2 inches) with Tokiko shocks Mono wiper blade (racing type). I normally keep the Mono wiper off the car and in the trunk as I haven’t driven it in the rain in years. The wipers can be easily returned to the stock left & right two-unit OEM type configuration. Air horns with compressor. Sun visor delete with overhead lights – JDM part Center console wood grain look covers. White instrument gage faces Driver’s seat adjustable lumbar support Engine compartment strut tower polished brace Front lower brace left to right A-arms Trunk carpet kit K&N lifetime air filter Billet oil cap Also Included in this sale: Non-leather factory steering wheel in great condition. Used automatic transmission from a ’91 Miata with 110,000 miles if you want it. Please do NOT plan to put this transmission in this Miata’s cockpit to transport. I can store the transmission as long as needed for pick-up. Boot cover for the top in the down position – few small spots on it. Used tan Coco floor mats CB Radio with internal connection to the power antenna. Great for Miata club drives or long trips. Unit is completely hidden in the car and out of sight when not in use. Current Issues The airbag is working, but the diagnostic code (6 flashes) indicates “Faulty air bag modules or poor connection of clock spring connector”. This will not affect it passing inspection as the air bag is still in working order. A replacement module for a 1993 can be found on eBay for about $100. I have learned from doing this exact job on my other Miata, that the new module will work for about a year and then start flashing again. I no longer work on the air bag systems of ‘90-‘93 Miatas. If it starts flashing codes, I use that as a reason to replace the steering wheel with an aftermarket unit. One of the biggest complaints from owners of the 1st generation Miatas is the cheap, EPA-friendly paint used on these cars in the early ‘90s. The non-metallic paints were not clear-coated. While this Miata still shines up great, the plastic front nose, rear bumper, lip-type spoiler and side-view mirrors have faded at different rates as the metal painted areas. Also the bottom of the front air dam is scratched up from the low ground clearance. There are more than 50 very tiny paint chips on the front hood and fenders. The tan interior components such as the dash, door panels, carpet and seats have faded at different rates. This is a very common problem with the early tan interiors Miatas. Also unique to the tan interior is that the dash is manufactured as ALL tan, but the factory paints the top area by the windshield black to reduce glare. Over time the paint looses it catalyst and becomes “soft” to the touch. A dash topper is what most folks use to hide this problem, but I’ve never cared for the look of those and have just refrained from touching the dash. The wheels have some areas of minor curbing where the tire meets the rim. The wire from the solenoid to the starter was cut and repaired. It needs to be replaced. When the car is really hot, sometimes the starter just clicks. The car ALWAYS starts, but when it’s hot may take a few clicks. The wire should be replaced, but requires removal of the starter unit. It’s never been a big deal and just one of those little things I’ve lived with. I repeat… the car always starts! Radio If you know anything about the Miata or the Miata community you have heard of Jeff Anderson and his factory radio rebuild & modifications. People who want to maintain the factory double-din sized radio have mailed him their radios from all around the world to restore and upgrade the units. This Miata has an Anderson upgraded radio that includes a new auxiliary input (for ipods/mp3 players and satellite radios), increased output to the 4 headrest speakers, new back lighting and a modern separate Sony CD player. The new Sony CD player, is a modern unit that will play burned CDs. An added benefit of using the original odd-sized factory radio in a convertible is today’s thieves won’t be interested in stealing it. Little do they know it’s been upgraded to handle all of today’s formats. The door speakers are from a company named Clearwater. They custom make high quality speaker that bolts directly into the odd-sized door opening for Miatas. These cost me three times what universal speakers with a mounting adaptors cost but are well worth it. NO BUY NOW!!! The car can not be delivered to a larger city (ie Atlanta or Jacksonville) for pick-up or shipping. I will hold the car for 3 months after the auction has ended to facilitate pick-up from the buyer. Please note I am a pilot and travel 180 days a year. I’m off and at home a week at a time, so we’ll need to schedule the pick-up when I’m in town. If you are a first time eBay bidder with no feedback you must email me before bidding. If you bid with out emailing me, I reserve the right to cancel your bid and block you from bidding again. I’m sorry to do this, but there are folks that like to play games on eBay and interfere with auctions with no intention of buying.
