Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Wide Body in Guards Red with only 72,120 miles. I am the third owner of this beautiful well maintained vehicle. I purchased this car over 2 years ago at a steep price tag from a dealer in Wisconsin. I babied it since day one, and always kept with anything that needed attention. This car has a Wide body steel conversion done from first owner, immediately after purchase with Porsche parts only. This was often the case since the Turbo model was in very limited production since its U.S. reintroduction in 1986. Everyone wanted a wide body at that time although Turbo and factory wide body were immediately accounted for before hitting American soil. These wide body steel conversions were often priced just as much or even more than the Turbo model. The car also comes with very desirable 17 inch, 3 piece wheels (Kinesis), these wheels are similar to Speedline and RH wheels. The first owner did not spare anything and put all the best on this car. The set of wheels alone were above $4,000. The wheels are matched with front 225/45/17 and rear 255/45/17 and have approximately 80% tread wear left. Additionally, the original owner had upgraded the exhaust system with the true and original SSI Heat Exchangers and a Dansk sport muffler, which give a very sporty note but not too laud at all, while adding another 16 horsepower. The convertible top is virtually new and was replaced by previous owner at a Porsche Dealership in spring 2008. Immediately after receiving the car, my first upgrade was to have H4 headlight installed. These headlights are much more performing than the original ones. This upgrade alone was $735 and gives a better overall look to the front of the car while adding greater luminosity at dark. The original “sugar Scoop” headlight will also be included with this auction for those who prefer that look or to preserve the originality of the vehicle. Since my ownership, I had the following item replaced or updated on the car: New clutch (Sach power clutch – light weight), including new TOB and fork, new rear main seal, and new clutch cable: Winter 2009. This was the first replacement clutch since new in 1986, it shows that the car was not molested and very well taken care.New front and rear shocks (Bilstein): Winter 2009Complete suspension overhaul, including ball joint, turbo tie rod, wheel bearing, and stainless steel brake line on all 4 corners: Winter 2009Shifter bushing with new Wevo shifter coupler: Winter 2009New Magnacore ignition wire, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor: Winter 2009New Bosh OEM alternator: Fall 2010New Optima Battery: Winter 2010 Wheel alignment on all four wheels. Spring 2010. The car is in great mechanical condition, and the interior still has the original carpeting, including the one in the front trunk. Usually these cars all have their front trunk mat removed and replaced by a cheap aftermarket one. This car still has that front mat with original snap fasteners. The seats have no tears and are in great conditions, although signs of wear are showing on one of the driver side bolster. The car does not leak a drop, I know most people say that all old air cooled Porsche leaks,,..That is true. This one was leaking when I purchased it, and when it had the clutch replaced, so did the rear main seal which was the culprit. In addition all other items susceptible to cause leaks were also replaced. Therefore, the car does not drip oil at all. Overall this car is a very solid vehicle in very good conditions for a 25 years old car. The paint is very glossy and a 9 out of 10, although the front lip has some minor rock ships as well as one or two small chips on the front hood, barely noticeable. This is not a “Garage Queen” and not priced as such, although a very low mileage car that could easily be shown in various car events as I often did over the past few years (even took a second place at a local car show with popular votes). This car could also be a very reliable daily driver for anyone. I will assist with shipping and transport (your expenses), and willing to deliver the car for free up to 150 miles radius of West Chester, PA. Please note that if “Buy it Now” is used I will include a very desirable 930S Steering wheel with Porsche logo (a $525 item). The reason I am selling is that I recently purchased a Porsche 964, and unfortunately cannot really keep both of them. NOTE:CARFAX says 8 calculated owners, not accurate. I am the third owner. I have the Carfax that was run by Owner # 2 he took possession in 2002 and kept the vehicle until 2009 when I bought it. Owner #1 purchase the car in July 1986 and owned it until December 2000, where it was traded between dealers and auctioned several times, hence the multiple titling events on the recent Carfax. The Carfax I have from Owner #2 shows actual services and corresponding mileage occurrences. this can be emailed for those wanting to see this document. On Apr-12-11 at 16:37:44 PDT, seller added the following information: The car is advertised locally, as well as with the local PCA region website. I reserve the righ to end this auction early for local sale. As you probably expect I have received a significant amount of emails, requests as well as offers. So, if I have not yet replied to your email bare with me, I will eventually reply to all. Additional note; the air conditioning is not blowing cold, although the compressor is working/turning. For this reason I have to advertise this car with a non-working AC. Everytrhing else is working, event the automatic door lock, which is one of the first thing to go out on these old Carrera. Thanks for all of the interest as well as the compliments send via emails. Stephan
