Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1970 Chevy 3/4 pickup. I am the second owner on this old classic. This truck is fully loaded except a tilt wheel and a couple of other little options that came on these trucks. It has a 402 Big Block. Four speed with granny transmission. It has the cargo light and Factory Tach in the dash. It came with AC but the compressor is off right now. Probably to save on gas at one time. It is a long bed. Two tone paint, green and white. The good is that this truck is super straight. It has the wood bed that is very solid. Nice straight body all the way around. Nice options, especially the factory tach. I just switched the rear end over to a 3:54 gear ratio but still have the 4:10 one that came in it if somebody wants. We might be able to work a deal for that for a little extra. The interior on this truck is very nice. Still has the original covered seat in it with the design. It does have one little tear about a 1/2 long in the upper part of the back. It has a seat cover on it now. The floor boards are solid. The rockers look like they have been replaced at one time. This is a nice solid truck. Has an after market console in the top of the roof that has a radio and speakers in it. Needs new radio. The one in it is an older cassette deck that doesn't work. The bad is that it smokes and burns oil. I still was driving this every day for the last year and a half up to a month ago when the radiator deveoloped a leak. I either have a burned valve or a broken ring. I think it just needs the heads pulled and redone but if I end up not being able to sell it I will just keep driving it like it is and eventually restore it. It also is going to need a pilot bearing for the transmission. I just don't want to pull out that granny trans to replace a five dollar part. It drives and shifts just fine until it gets really warmed up then it starts getting hard to shift. I drive it to work in the morning and make it all the way there without any issues and usually it won't even smoke when driving it just that far. Same thing on the way home. If I deter or have to run and errand or drive it too hard on the highway it starts smoking when you pull up to a stop and take off. Probably a lot better mechances out there than me that have an easy fix. So..........bottom line is, whoever buys this is probably gonna be better off getting the smoking fixed then it will be an awesome truck. The body is straight but will eventually need some paint. There are a couple of places on it that need to be taken care of though. There is a place on the hood where the paint has flaked off or something. It is a place about 2 inches in diameter right up by the cowl. There is the start of some rust by the lower part of the driver door. I am sure there are a couple more flaws in this but nothing major. There are no major rust holes or bad places in the body that are going to require any major body work. The grille is pretty straight. The guy I got it from used it to push somebody with once and put a tire between the grille and the other car and put a ding in the grille. It isn't super bad but isn't straight either. I have a perfect replacement one that I would be willing to sell separately but won't make it part of this sales price cause those grilles are usually $400. Also, the radiator started leaking a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was something that could be patched. The radiator guy ( cause nobody knows how to repair anything anymore ) says I need a new one. That is $300 for a top of the line one. Real reason I am selling is BECAUSE I AM MARRIED STILL - Plain and simple. I need the money. I either have to sell this or my 66 Chevy. One has to go and I haven't gotten the courage up yet to list that one but it is coming. I know it. Truth of the matter is I could part this truck out for what my reserve is. The factory tach alone is worth about a 1/4 of the cost. The big block even needed work is work about half the price. So if somebody just wanted some great pieces they could take what they wanted and scrap the rest. I would rather see this back on the road but you do what you gotta do. FINAL NOTE - Listen folks, this is a 41 year old truck. Yeah, it is going to have some little flaws that I didn't mention. I have had about 20 of these trucks and this is one of the straightest, most original ones I have ever had. If you got it and sunk 5 grand in it would it be worth 20 grand. NO, probably not, but it would be a super dependable truck that wouldn't need anything for years. ALSO, I am going to pull off the Craftsman tool box unless the buyer can convince me somehow to keep it on the truck. I am flexible but I think my reserve is low enough that somebody is getting a deal. I have a trailer and can deliver or meet part of the way for an additional fee. Not trying to make money on this part. Just trying to help the buyer be able to get it if they win it.
