About this 1973 911 Porsche Carrera RSR: I have owned, raced, restored and obsessively enjoyed as many as two dozen Porsches — almost all models — dating back to my first 1956 356 Speedster restoration in the 1960s. And I had excellent help building this ‘73 RSR/Turbo lightweight. The extensive restoration, body panel work and paint is the detailed work of Andy Kenney, a fiberglass, paint, mechanical and fabrication renaissance talent — and much sought after in the Tampa Bay area. Working with Andy, we logged at least 400 hours on the body panels, prep and paint work alone. The reward is excellent fit and finish. All graphics/stripes are expertly painted on and clear-coated. MISCELLANEOUS PARTS & ITEMS All parts and outside work are high quality from top level suppliers and shops. 1. Built with new gears and syncros from original 915 4-speed. (Eibell Performance, Inc.) *This street set up can be easlily changed for track time by installing a lower ratio 7:31 Ring & Pinion. 46. Limited Slip Differential 47. Rebuilt half shafts; boots, plates, retainers, gaskets, 16 bolts. I have many, many receipts — almost all of them — and they will be given to the new owner. This 1973 Carrera RSR began life as a straight 1973 911 E with all S options. I purchased it in Tampa, FL in 1985 when it had about 35,000 miles. It ran great as an occasional driver for another 30k. During this time, I started collecting the new parts for the RSR conversion. Then it was stripped down completely to bare metal (see photos), and I completed the build in stages. Instead of simply repairing some common rust, even minor rusted areas were replaced with new factory metal: front nose panel, front suspension panel, full fuel tank support panel, and l&r battery boxes. Rear seat area showed some minor exterior rust, so we replaced with stronger sheet metal. The RSR is sound and rust-free, including frame, suspension points and floor pans. NOTES: I have not opened sunroof since car was painted — afraid of scratching it! Sunroof worked fine before and motor runs fine. It was reinstalled with some new parts, guides, seals, etc., but it should be checked out before opening. I have a good Pelican Parts article about sunroofs as guide. Car comes with additional set of aluminum sunroof guides, rails and deflector, plus the frame to install the new black headliner: Headliner — used wrong glue first time, so pulled it out and ordered a new one. Car comes with new black headliner and sunroof frame, not installed. Original BEHR air conditioning system, with under-dash vents. Blower works fine, and AC blew cool at time of removal. System will need a new rotary compressor, drier and lines. All other necessary parts come with the car, including new rotary compressor bracket, and front condenser shield. IMPORTANT: The car has never been raced, abused, or tracked. I attended one Porsche Club Driver Education event at Sebring Raceway, and it performed beautifully; It is very fast, with smooth powerful pulls to redline, crisp shifts — and it handles as designed; balanced, tight and sticks like glue!
