For Sale: 1973, 2 Door, 109, 2.25P, ex-MOD, FFR, ragtop (RE-LIST: RESERVED LOWERED) The ultimatum has been given. This rover has become the objectification of too much time spent on my hobby, and not enough time with the family. Therefore it must be removed from the premises with prejudice. My tough decision to sell, is your benefit. This truck was listed a few months back (pre-winter) but did not hit the reserve (came very close). At the time, I was also dealing with a 'mystery' fuel problem. This winter it was resolved by installing a 24V electric fuel pump. Now the truck runs fine with no hint of fuel starvation. I am re-listing it with a clean bill of health. Please note: It is an old truck. Do not expect to drive this thing across the country after winning the auction. It might make it, but I can't give you that kind of guarantee. The truck was purchased in '04 from Skytop Rover in PA. They had imported it from the U.K. We drove it from PA, up to Boston, where it has not left the state. It has been registered, inspected, insured, and titled since then. All Legit and all are still up-to-date and the title is ready to sign over. It runs and drives just fine, no major mechanical issues. I frequently use it for around town motoring. Occasionally even put it on the highway (in the slow lane, obviously). Truck can get up in speed, but only with a tail wind. It does not have an overdrive (4 forward gears, 1 reverse only). Two points of caution: 1) This is a Series Land Rover. This type of truck was never designed to be a commuter car. It is a work truck first, and an old one at that. Please make sure this is the type of vehicle you are looking for. 2) As this was my hobby; I have ‘tinkered’ with this truck quite a bit. Rover Enthusiasts might scowl at the truck because it doesn’t have Lucas electrics, but I wanted parts I could get at AutoZone for cheap, not overpriced imports. As such, there are a lot of ‘non-standard’ modifications that the next owner will need to be aware of. The most dramatic being that the engine is now distributor-less. Nothing I have done is irreversible. An enthusiast could buy a wiring harness and be back to stock with a little bit of work. I have put a lot of new parts and modifications into this truck. Below is a list of the big items, (although I am sure I have forgotten something) -New (used) LH Gas Tank. (both tanks plumbed with switchover) -All Electrical Harnesses have been removed -Ford EDIS controller and coilpack installed, coupled with MegaJolt Lite Jr. I have had no problems with this upgrade since installed. The stock 24V plugs and Distributor were giving me a fit, and replacement parts were expensive. This was cheaper and more configurable, than repairing stock. The engine will idle at a very low RPM, and has good response. -Rear Cross member had rot. Cut away and replaced with a new section from Rovers North (done in '05) -Right side, rear wheel, front outrigger had rot. Replaced with new section from Rovers North (done in '05) -Removed all old radio/charging equipment from truck. Replaced with a standard 24V AC/Delco "1 wire" alternator -Brake and signal lights all re-wired. -Rear truck bed coated with DIY bed liner -‘Jeep’ flip and stow seat installed with seat belts in rear of truck (for the kids). -Engine head converted to use unleaded gas -Weber Carburetor installed with new, clear in-line fuel filter for easy viewing. -24V Carter Fuel pump installed. -New (to me) rag top. Minor holes, but serviceable. Some notes: -Kayak NOT included in sale (it's just where I store it) -Door tops included, but not shown in photos of truck. -With the truck comes a ton of spare parts. They are shown in the pictures. Bulbs, gaskets, headlamps, etc. Basically anything rover related shown. -Also included is some tech books (Both Haynes manuals, and a copy of 'working in the wild', as well as a copy of the MOD Fitted For Radio manual, including schematics) -Still needed is a real air filter. Right now I have a temporary dust mask. K&M makes one that just bolts on from Rover North. -ODO is not accurate. The Speedo cable needs to be replaced. No idea how many miles are on the truck since it came that way. -Gas/temp gauge not connected -Frame (post repair) is Solid and in good condition. Very little rust/rot. I removed all Bodywork in '05 and treated with POR15 then a homemade wax-oil that has held up well. -Old trucks take awhile to warm up in the cold. About 10 minutes of idle is usually enough to be ready to roll. Some videos of the truck taken a few months back: (These were recorded by placing my cell phone on the dash against the windscreen.... needless to say, the truck is not nearly as bouncy as it appears in the video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKeRXaYh2to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnqOhvNj8kU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yXG4jTCYdQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEa777-bSJY As it says below: $500 is due 48 hrs after auction closes.
