2001 VW CABRIO GLX 213k Miles, Automatic, Power Top Normal 0 My wife and I bought this car in September of 2007, we are the second owners and we’ve put over 55000 trouble-free miles on her. Below you’ll find a a complete description and condition report: I. Mechanical: - Car runs great and drives nicely. The transmission shifts perfectly. - NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMS - As you will read below under “recent work”, all of the expensive things that can go wrong with these cars have been repaired while we’ve owned the car. - RECENT WORK (receipts provided): · New left front axle · Replaced transmission 12000 miles ago · Four Wheel Brake job 9000 miles ago · Four new KYB struts 9000 miles ago · Front end alignment 9000 miles ago · Four Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires (5000 miles ago) · Both front wheel bearings (12000 miles ago) · New water pump & timing belt · New radiator · New wiper motor · New starter · New front window regulators (a very common and very expensive problem) - REPAIRS NEEDED: § Rear muffler § Cruise control does not work § A/C compressor does not work § Valve cover gasket leaking (new gasket included) COSMETIC: Exterior: Original paint, no accidents Solid floors and rocker panels Rock solid underneath Paint shines nicely, despite numerous small nicks and chips, especially to leading edge of hood (see photos) Three tiny rust bubbles forming (see photos) Top is excellent and doesn’t leak Original top boot included Door mirrors de-laminating from age Interior: Nice, clean black leather Driver’s seat lower side bolster seam starting to unravel Passenger’s seat has a little white mark on the side bolster Everything works, including the 6-disc factory CD changer Rear view mirror fell off (included) Steering column lower shroud missing (see photos) Glove box won’t open Not perfect, but in much better shape than it’s 10 years of age and 213000 miles would suggest Overall, this car has been much loved, by us, and had all of the expensive repairs taken care of under our care. It would make a fantastic project car, or a great parts car (just don’t tell my wife if you’re going to use it for parts…she has truly loved this car, and it might break her heart).
