Vehicle Detail
FOR SALE!!! 2000 Jetta tdi, diesel , auto, high miles...416,570, mileage may be slightly higher as I take it for a drive every few days. Original engine, turbo, injection pump. Not modified, just well cared for by myself and a TDI guru, not VW dealers. These cars are known for longevity and economy! This is a one owner vehicle, purchased new as a commuter vehicle in 2000 by my father. Clear title in hand. The good: New front tires and alignment a few weeks ago New shocks/struts/front lower control arms around 275k new alternator at 300k timing belt pulleys and water pump done last at 400k by Metal Man (TDI GURU!) in Sunbury, PA, good untill 500k This is the 3rd 01M transmission...1st one went at 180k, 2nd one went at 300k (it was an AAMCO unit), the one in the car now was new from the dealer, it has 110k on it and shifts perfect New headlights (old ones were faded) at 325k New tie rods and ball joints 5k ago 2004+ bigger glove box rubber mats less than a year old black interior great shape other than a small tear at a seam on the drivers seat crank windows rear wheel bearings replaced around 300k rear subframe bushings around 300k (no clunking or knocking suspension) Oil changed religiously every 3500-5000, Fuel filter every 20-30k, diesel purge every 100k or so New glowplugs and harness at 350k new radiator at 320k new ac compressor and receiver/dryer at 350k new rear calipers/pins at 360k little to no rust new battery (oem), new starter (pepboys), grounds were cleaned up and taped, all battery/starter cables are new head unit that is in the car is an Alpine CDA-9884, with a single disc cd player, iPod connectivity, and Sirius Satellite Radio. iPod hookup is in the glove box, Sirius tuner is mounted above the passenger foot well, under the dash, and it plays through the head unit...all you need is your own subscription. The bad: -Hood has a dent from a deer accident around 300k, bumper and grill were cracked, so i removed the grill and replaced the bumper, its black, never got around to painting it...the blue is dark enough that it doesn't look bad. -AC not working, i think its down on low pressure due to a leak. I replaced a bad compressor at 350k. AC worked great for a while, but I always noticed the bottom of the compressor had refridgerant residue. I'm assuming they re-used o-rings or used the wrong ones and it leaked. -needs strut bearings, stupid mistake and i forgot to change them when i replaced the struts. Sometimes you hear a click/metallic sound when turning in a parking lot -Windshield is cracked from my father letting a wiper-less wiper arm to smack down on the windshield, needs to be replaced. Also, the armest is broken...needs a new armrest and mounting bracket. Boost deviation and limp mode issue, read below. Overall: I get between 35-39 mpg on mixed city/highway with a heavy foot. Car runs strong and brakes smooth. Exterior is in great shape considering the mileage, she's got dings/chips, and the hood dent, but nothing major. Interior is in excellent shape other than the armrest. Nobody believes it has 416k based on the condition of the car. I occasionally get a boost deviation code and the car will go into limp mode. Shutting the engine off and turning it back on will get it out of limp mode until you press it hard again. It'll do this for a few days when you mash on it, but then it's fine for 2 weeks, and then it comes back. I haven't looked into it. It's probably an easy fix. I'm leaning towards a MAF or an N75 because it comes and goes. Vac lines are pretty new and in good shape, EGR is pretty new, turbo was cleaned and it made a world of difference, the turbo actuator was replaced a while back also. I believe I have a spare N75 laying around that'll go with the car if I find it. Other than that, it runs great. Transmission shifts perfect. Brakes and tires have plenty of life. It rides nice. Starts near instantly. The intake is probably due for a cleaning, I was going to do it when I did the turbo chemical clean, but I stripped the first two bolts and stopped there because I didn't have new ones. I ordered 6 new manifold bolts from the dealer, they come with the car. Also, the 2 upper radiator clips are broken, radiator sits loose but it's not going anywhere.
