One owner (me) 1996 Geo Tracker LSI; was my wife's car, then my car, then was extra vehicle, & then car for my son. Tracker needed more work recently than we expected, so my son bought a car & now we have 4 vehicles for 3 people so it must go. Was involved in one accident; in 2007 my son was rear-ended at a stop light. Insurance company paid over $2300 to put a new rear bumper/tailgate assembly and match everything up but no damage to frame. I have documents all the way back to when we bought it; Tracker has been maintained faithfully but has issues as detailed below. Good Stuff: LSI model: split folding rear seat. Manual locking front hubs; originals failed (spring broke) so now WARN hubs installed. Air Conditioning (the reason my wife got this one instead of our 1992). Clean vehicle; check out the pictures. No rust issues you see with other Trackers. Alloy wheels are starting to look old. Recent work includes the following Water Pump 3/08 Alt/AC belt 3/08 New radiator 6/10 Catalytic Converter 12/10 Clutch replaced 12/10 Timing Belt 12/10 Tune up/plugs/wires 12/10 Wheel bearing 12/10 Bad Stuff: Small stuff: Paint chips you would expect on a 15 year old car. Scratches I tried to photograph for you.. Mileage is incorrect. Speedometer cable now fixed, but no idea what true mileage is (odometer shows less than what I listed for this reason). Check engine light. Now off but haven't driven enough to see if catalytic converter was the problem or if it is O2 sensors (I've replaced several plus EGR valve at least once). Haven't had to deal with in last few years because car has been exempt (less than 5000 miles) for emissions inspection in PA. Convertible top: Needs replaced. Not leaking yet, but it is the original. Rear window split so I put duct tape on so son could drive this winter; planned on new one this spring. Left front fender: Son hit a tree in Uncle's driveway. Surface rust starting where paint gone (see pics) Engine: This is the big question mark, and I hope I can explain it correctly. When they replaced the timing belt, they noticed the "key" that holds the timing gear in place on the crankshaft had slop. Had a new key manufactured, but it did not hold. Mechanic said two options; last resort was to weld gear to crankshaft but didn't want to do because then if rear seal went bad you couldn't get to it, so he suggested a racer's fix & sent the gear out & now there are screws top and bottom with loctite to attach it to crankshaft. Car is sold AS-IS; you are welcome to contact me and make an appointment to see the Tracker and we can take it for a drive. PA does salt roads; forgot to list (since I wasn't charged) that when in shop in Dec 2010 gas tank brackets were rusted through so that was fixed. Just looked underneath; rear shocks rusty & need replaced but rest is clean (looks like factory undercoat). Tracker has optional front skid plate for off road use that goes with the sale; it's sitting in my garage since it had to be removed every time the oil was changed & I don't go off road. If anyone looks at these & has placed a bid prior to these pictures being posted and wants to withdraw their bid because I did not describe the Tracker correctly, let me know & I will contact eBay to help you do so.
