1991 Mazda Miata and Miata Parts Just in time for Spring!! Miata Collector Retirement, Everything Goes Sale!! After my last Miata restoration project ended (1990 built November 1989), through no fault of mine, up in the side of a Nissan Titan and left me with an injured back, left arm and hand that effectively ended my guitar playing, I decided it was time to end my love affair with Miatas. Before the wreck I had agreed to purchase the Green one offered here for my wife so we could have "his and her" Miatas but it was not to be. Since the wreck my wife refuses to ride in or drive a Miata (preferring her Suburban) and my back makes getting in and out of a Miata nearly impossible with the top up (I have to sort of fall into the car) so it is time to say goodbye. To that end I am having a "Miata Retirement Everything Goes Sale" that includes the following: 1991 Mazda Miata -- engine is out of a 1990, before it was pulled, the engine ran but had a knock that I believe is a rod bearing but my mechanic believes is the head. Regardless the engine needs work. The drive shaft is out of the car as is the reinforcement brace, they are both included in with the car. I had pulled the engine to rebuild it when I realized that I had neither the time nor energy to rebuild/restore another Miata, so I put the motor back in the car, connected it to the front motor mounts and called it a day -- none of the engine wiring or cooling system is connected and this will make it easy to pull the motor to repair it. The car ran and drove well before the engine started knocking. To be absolutely clear: the car is not running today because the engine was pulled out for repair. I reinjured my back pulling it and paid my son and a friend to just put the engine back in the car so the engine is just sitting in the car on the motor mounts, it is not connected so the car is not driveable today. The engine needs to be repaired before it is reconnected and run. It is a 5 speed. Glass rear window in top (top needs some work). Center cluster bezel is broken under the CD/radio. Drivers side rear tire has a slow leak (it has held air for over 2 weeks since the last time I pumped it up). Passenger side window is in the track but not connected to the motor -- the motor ran the last time I had the car running but did not engage the window. Rear license trim is cracked and broken in the area around the license plate. Tonight (3/28) when I got home I crawled around under the edges of the car with a spot light and here is what I found out: at some point the car received a very nice undercoat -- it appears to be fully intact. The only rust I can find is surface rust on bolt heads (to be expected) with the limited inspection I was able to do (fender wells, and laying on the ground looking under the car) I did not see any body damage from rust or for that matter any body rust at all. With that said, I did not get fully under the car but it lends more credibility to the claim of the person who pulled the drive shaft and reinforcement frame out that there was no rust under the car. If I can get my 23 year old son to help me I will get it up on ramps and get a couple of shots from underneath the car. The clear coat is peeling on both doors. The leather seats are cracked (see pictures). Complete NA wiring harness, includes fuse boxes and relays, purchased from Miata Salvager Short shifter, this is the best one I ever used it reduces shifter movement by at least 50% - I retrieved it from my wrecked Miata before it was hauled off. Front end bra Passenger door panel from 1993 (speaker grill is incorporated in the door panel) Driver's door panel from 1990 - 1992 (separate speaker grill) (3) Door panel top arm rests/window trim (one is cut out for a tweeter) Parcel shelf Glass rear window holder/protector for parcel shelf Mazda Cup Holder Driver’s side tail light -- has scratches that can be buffed out APC Headlight Housing to allow use of modern lamps, like Silver-Star Power window conversion kit Instrument cluster bezel Aluminum trim frame for instrument cluster Heater/AC control panel Rolls of Carbon fiber look interior trim sheets (use a heat gun to shape over interior parts and glue down to look like carbon fiber parts) Exhaust tips (2) Door speaker covers Spare tire cover Complete trunk carpet and trim set Windshield trim set Stainless steel clutch line (from Moss Motors) Driver’s side headlight cover (original 1990, replaced with vented headlight cover when I was rebuilding the one that was wrecked) (2) Each Driver and passenger side turn signals "Mazda" decals for the front bumper. I had them custom made when I repainted the wrecked one. Boot cover Aluminum door threshold covers Original plastic door threshold covers Complete interior carpet set Valve cover with timing gear cover cut off to allow for exposing timing gears (2) Center consoles Complete Cruise control -- under hood unit, in dash switch and steering column controls Steering column cover Driver and passenger side door pulls/arm rests Original Driver and passenger side door interior door latches with connecting rods Chrome top latch handles Pair of chrome interior door latch handles and (1) lock button the other button was in the wrecked Miata Never installed rebuilt AC Compressor (box is still sealed) Never installed Clutch Master Cylinder (I honestly don't remember if it is rebuilt or new and I can't find any description on the box but it is still in the plastic wrap, it is from Advance Auto Parts). Never used V Belts Used starter (purchased from a Miata salvager who went out of business still wrapped in plastic sheeting) Used wiper motor and wiper control arms (purchased from same salvager as above) If I can find it I will include a Miata repair CD Front and Rear new brake pad sets. Chrome center caps for gauge needles Set of 4 Miata “Daisy” wheel center caps (3) "New in box, never been opened" rotors (I believe that they are new but they could be remanufactured, I am not sure) I bought them for the one that was wrecked and never put them on because I did the conversion to the larger NB rotors. They were purchased at Advance Auto Parts. This is all that I can remember from taking the pictures and off the top of my head. I will continue to look through my house/garage/attic for other parts and they will all be included as well. I WILL NOT BREAK UP THE SET so please don't ask and I cannot part out the complete car. If you don't want everything get together with a group of Miata Lovers and share the costs of acquisition and then everyone gets their agreed upon parts when the car/parts arrives. I am not able to access my Ebay account during the day so if you ask a question I will not be able to answer it until I get home, around 6:30 pm Central Time Zone. Reserve is $1200. I am listing this locally and I reserve the right to end it early if some locally meets my BIN of $1800.00 Deposit of $500 must be made within 24 hours of auction closing unless we workout a different arrangement BEFORE the auction closes -- if you don't make the deposit within 24 hours of auction close I will declare you a non-paying bidder and re-list the car/parts. I will provide you with a clear Florida Title with a sales price on the title of $500 - because Florida requires me to put a sales price on the title before I can transfer it to you. ****This is included in the final sales price.**** There IS NO WARRANTY on the car or any of the parts. This is a 21 year old car and most of the parts are of equal age so please keep this in mind when you are bidding. New/Rebuilt parts are out of warranty as well. Shipping is entirely up to you. I WILL NOT arrange shipping for you, that is entirely up to you. Scammers before you ask, I WILL NOT TAKE Personal CHECKS for this auction, I WILL ONLY TAKE Pay-Pal, CASH and USPS Money Orders, I WILL NOT pay your shipper out of an "excess payment", so don't ask. I WILL NOT ship the car over seas. Full payment must be made within 7 Days of auction end. Payment by Pay-Pal, Cash in Person or (Ebay is making me take) USPS Money Orders ONLY. If you make the deposit and don't pay in full within 7 days I will refund your deposit minus Ebay/Pay-Pal fees and a 10% PITA Fee and then I will re-list the car/parts. You may pickup the car and parts AFTER Pay-Pal clears the payment and transfers it to my bank or you hand me cash printed by the US Federal Reserve or the USPS Money Orders are cashed by the POST OFFICE. Once payment is made the car can stay where it is sitting for up to 30 days while you workout shipping/retrieving the car after 30 days there will be a $5.00 per day storage fee (I will protect it to the best of my ability but I am not responsible for it -- it has been sitting where it is since May 2010 so it is relatively safe). By bidding on this auction you agree to all the above terms. Finally, some free, friendly advice: If you customize your ride GET IT APPRAISED as soon as you complete each step. With the paint, wheels, interior work, body parts, engine work etc., I was into the 1990 Miata for about $6,000 and when it was wrecked the insurance company only saw a 1990 with 279.000 miles on it and I got a whopping $1200.00 -- all because I didn't have an appraisal because I was waiting until it was completely done before I got the appraisal. The insurance appraiser told me, "next time get the appraisal done at each step so if something happens you get credit for it" then I swear he said "you had a nice paint job on the car so I gave you credit for 'clean paint'". Please learn from my mistake and protect your investment.
