1998 Audi A8 has transmission issue. I have well over $5k into the car and cannot afford it any more, fix it or use it for parts. It started a couple of weeks ago, when you put it in drive it locks in 4th gear or (Fail Safe Mode). But if you use tiptronic mode and keep the rpm's up a little higher it doesn't go into fail safe mode and will shift just fine unless you stop, then it will go into fail safe mode again and if you want to start from first gear you have to shut the car off and restart it to reset the car. It will drive around just fine when locked in fail safe mode. it will go down the highway and cruise control will all work perfectly it just doesn't have much get up and go when in that mode. Also the check engine light along with the airbag light is on. the cap for the passenger side headlight washer nozel is missing. and rear bumper is cracked. Other than that all the electronics in the car work great including the memory seats, bose sound system, moon roof, heated front and rear seats, cruise control, a/c, ect.. i could go on forever. i have the clear title in hand, thanks for looking if you have any questions please e-mail me or call me at 701-799-0886.
