1975 OPEL MANTA RACING RED / ORANGE BLACK INTERIOR & TRIMS This Opel manta was being restored as a higher performance Rally/GTE car. The Manta is now a much rarer example of the early 70's Opel than the Kadette; and being a very light & sporty performer which can seat 4 people. The Manta has the same running gear as the Kadett. This rare & solid survivor been well loved over the years and is in extremely solid & in original body condition. I could see no visible rust; please do look at photos under hood, in trunk, under rear mat & door frames. This rarer style Manta still needs some work and is being sold as a final restoration vehicle. This Manta is a very fun car to drive and a very strong runner. The engine runs smooth, burns clean & no smoke. It has been updated with an expensive Weber performance 2 barrel carburator; which is designed to dump both barrels at same time for maximum fuel flow & ultimate performance. The 4 speed transmission is in need of a clutch & work. It presently has a hard time going into all gears; pedal engages way up from the floor. I had a similar experience with a Saab Viggen which was a failing clutch so I assume this is the same and therefore, even though car can be driven in forward and reverse without problems on the road, please plan on needed transmission/clutch adjustments & work when buying the car. I believe the engine is an older build with not that many overall miles. Most hoses, belts, etc, have been replaced. Parts are easily accessible and very affordable as these are same drivetrains as Kadette and most parts are interchangeable from 1970 through 1975; the "A" Production Series for the Opels. I have not owned it that long and do not have full history, other than it was being prepared as a Rally & GTE type car ... it really handles & moves out when you give it the gas! The overall body is solid as a rock. It does have some side denting on the drivers side which will need repair, along with a small upper corner of drivers side fender and lower body trim on same side front. The old cassette radio & speakers were removed in prepartion for a new stereo... which never happened.... and I would be glad to throw in the old school style AM/FM Cassette Player if desired :) The front buckets do need a recover along with new carpet. The dash & center console are overall nice condition and the rear seat has been professionally redone in black. The odometer shows 12,400 miles and I was told that actual should be 112,400 miles; which is extremely low for a 36 year old car... at an average of only about 3,000 miles per year. This Manta sports vintage slotted aluminum wheels, which do need a buffing and clean up but not damaged or pitted, along with almost new 60 series BF Goodrich Radial TA's. The rear trunk compartment shows the original paint (red) & no rust, even in the spare tire well and under the original trank mat (please see photos) along with having the original spare tire and tire jack assembly strapped to the side of the trunk. This is a great car to finish restoring. This is what you want to have, a very solid, and rarer example of the Opel with a great sporty look.
