Vehicle Detail

First my story; I grew up being a Corvette fan and always wanting one. Finally with one semester left in engineering school I convinced my Dad and older sister to loan me enough money to buy a used Corvette. I ended up buying this 2 owner 1976 Mahogany Metallic L-82(4-bolt main), numbers matching, auto with 61,000 miles in June of 1981, the rest is as they say ...history. The Bad... The car is old, fairly rough, with high miles. It could probably use one of everything, but doesn't have to have anything. The paint has plently of flaws, the engine could stand a rebuild at some point (never had the heads off), and the trans drips a bit and could use the gasket replaced. The seats have a few minor seam splits, the carpet is rough, and the interior has other minor imperfections. The Good... the car starts right up and runs ok, I drive it periodically to work or wherever I please. It still looks pretty good from 20 feet. I think I have a record of every time I put gas in it over the past nearly 30 years! You could probably count the number of times the car sat outside at night on your fingers and toes. I have lowered the reserve. A few other facts... I had the car painted the original color in 1983. The rear end was rebuilt about that time as well. I have the bags for the T-Tops, a maint. manual, and a owner's manual. I hit a deer in 1984 but did only minor damage to the left light pod and right fender, the guy who painted it made repairs. I put stainless lined brake calipers, and a new master cylinder in 1991, and have been running silicone brake fluid ever since. I put a dual exhaust system on it in 1998. In 2001 I replaced the radiator and some supports, The fan shroud is split in two, but not replaced. In 2009, I took the rear diff out and checked it. I also replaced all six U joints, and replaced the rubber spacers in the transverse spring, then had it aligned. The tires have about 11,000 on them. The Speedo and Tach work, the clock does not. I took the air conditioning compressor, and condenser out a few years ago and still have both, along with hoses. I have the original AM/FM radio, even though it has an after market unit in it. I may regret selling this old car but since it is not my only sports car I hope I can make it through. It is a difficult decision to sell something you have had longer than your wife and kids! Feel free to send me questions, and I will add info as I think of it. The buyer needs to pay $500 within 48 hours and the remainder within 7 days. No Scam deals, I don't have time for it! Pick-up is the responsibility of the buyer, however I would be willing to assist as needed, and would consider some delivery options.. This is a 35 year old car so there is no warranty. : On Mar-08-11 at 14:52:31 PST, seller added the following information: A buyer asked about towing due to the trailer hitch. The hitch came with the car when I bought it, but it made me remember one thing I needed to include. The transmission is the stock Turbo 400 unit, which was rebuilt back in the 80's. So it has approx 75k on it.
