Vehicle Detail
A rare chance for a really super car with an interesting history of long term care and ownership. This Boat-tail was bought new in Marietta Georgia, then traded back after a year to the same dealership, where Mr Fred Macary bought it for $4580.50. Before long, Fred moved base to Washington State, and kept the Riviera there for 37 years! His hobby of radio ham is reflected by his use of a CB antenna ,now radio antenna on the back fender. How well he cared for this car is evident in every way, and a tribute to his thoroughness. I came across this car by good luck after a long search, and it has delighted and impressed me more than most of the 100 plus cars I have owned, from Rolls and Bentley, down to Citroen 2cv and Mini. It's the originality and the fact that the car has not been messed with along the way. Only for sale as we are moving to an apartment with one parking space,so this and my '69 Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible have to go. I cannot do justice to the Buick in a few short words, so please be patient as I try to give you an honest description. I do not believe that you could duplicate this car without spending a great deal of money, if then. It is not a trailer Queen, not for $12950., but it's better than that in the real world; you can drive and enjoy this fine car with confidence, giving pleasure to all who see her. The car would be notable in any company, but not a 100 point nit picking contest. The solid, arrow straight bodywork shows no sign of any damage, with deep, smooth and even paintwork. I believe one respray in original white, with just a few touched in tiny chips,as you would expect on a driven car.The original vinyl roof covering came up magnificently with Mother's Back to Black, and does not have the usual crispy bubbles underneath, quite rare. Chrome and stainless as original, and very nice. One little dent in the back bumper, barely noticeable. There is some pitting on the rear light pot metal, but not nasty. The door handles show the expected wear, again quite acceptable. The front bumper over-riders/ license plate holder is a ten-pound chunk that can be unbolted if not needed, to give a very"Sharky" frontal look. Internally superb, really good. There were some splits on the driver's seat bottom, but I got hold of the very last piece of the oatmeal vinyl, and my upholsterer Mike did a super job of recovering the front squab. You would never know if I had not pointed it out. New carpets, with original mats, great dash pad and instruments, all working, but with an extra temperature gauge.Speedo shows 19000, but is exempt due to age.The am/fm radio works, as does the clock, the air con has been converted, and is a great asset, blowing cold.Electric seats, windows all work just fine.Full set of seat belts even the roof hung shoulder harnesses are present.Belts could be removed for dry-cleaning if needed. The rear parcel shelf is undamaged by sitting in the sun, and the headliner is clean. Mechanically the car starts on the first twist of the key, changes gears when it should, and stops precisely.Nothing to worry about. The trunk has been detailed and re-carpeted over a rust free floor.New cardboard liners fitted, and very nice with jack and spider wrench. Under the hood has not been detailed, but all the original stickers are there with the correct "455" air cleaner.New brake booster, fuel lines, washer motor and a serious tune-up just done.Driving beautifully, and I believe it's as good as you will get for this modest outlay, and probably better than you will expect. However, this is my opinion, you should inspect the car yourself to form your own, as we all have different expectations. We are only 5 miles off I-75, on the Florida /Georgia border,so easy to get to. You will find me honest and direct, and I fully expect the same from any purchaser, with no games or excuses.Press the Buy it Now, and you own the car.Do not get involved if you do not have the money to hand, or have to get permission,as I expect payment in full by wire transfer within 7 days, and a non-refundable deposit of $1000 by PayPal straight away,to deter fools. I have bought and sold many cars on E-Bay, and only been caught once by an unscrupulous liar-it is very unpleasant and I do not do business like that, nor expect it. Call me to make an appointment on 386 209 7606. Use the E-bay system for questions please.International bidders welcome, if you understand English and are prepared to follow the rules.I know a great shipper, and we are 2 hours away from Brunswick Port. Thanks, and Good Luck, Alan Briggs.
