Vehicle Detail
I have been working on and restoring cars for forty years. I work primarily on 60's Jags and BMW's. I bought this M6 in 2005, contrary to what the Carfax information lists. I never planned on selling it but I have only room for six cars not including my wife's, daughters, and in a few months, my sons. My current project is the restoration of a 1961 MkII Jag and replacing the inline six with a 2000 XJR 400Hp supercharged V8. Although this car did not require much work when I bought it I did make some improvements. Replaced US bumpers with Euro bumpers. Vast improvement. All rubber on bumpers is new, some of it the last BMW had. Also, one of the weaknesses of these cars is the valence under the front bumper. These generally warp and tear with age. This one is perfect! This car came with all leather interior, a $10,000 option at the time. All leather to BMW means any fabric used will be leather including headliner, visors and dash. When I purchased the car the leather on the dash had shrunk and pulled away from the windshield area. I remove the entire dash and had it recovered at a cost, not including my labor, of $2000. I had to buy a whole hide, matched to BMW color and quality, of which half was used. The entire dash is French stitched (including the defroster vents which BMW did not do). Although the leather was good on the seats it had stretched and the padding had collapsed. I had the leather recut, foam replaced and leather dyed. I replaced the steering wheel with a Moto Lita wheel which cost $480 with adapter. Everything on the car is in proper working order, down to the winshield washer. On most of these 6 series cars the Inspection light on the dash stays on because the nicad batteries inside the instrument pod die. I've replaced these and moved the batteries outside the pod for easy access. The original radio was replaced with an after market by the previous owner. I have the original along with the original steering wheel in the trunk as indicated in the photos. I've used Mobil 1 20-50 as per owners manual since purchased. Changed oil every 3500 miles. Uses no oil between changes. I am the third owner. The first lived in Texas. It came to California in 1990 so the body free of any corrosion. According to the previous owner Dinan lowerd the front suspension 1.5 inches, installed new cam shafts and a computer chip. The car is obviously lowered but I have not varified the rest, although from the look of his house I tended to believe him. I only used interior pictures from the driver side becaue ebay limits pictures to 24. Passenger side is identical. Car is sold as is. No guarantees or warranties represented or implied.
