1940 Cadillac La Salle model 5219 Note: this page may be slow to load, as I’ve included numerous photos at the bottom of the listing. These photos, and others not listed, can also be viewed in this album: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 http://tinypic.com/a/2kx0j/3It is with great pride that I put up for auction this lovingly restored 1940 La Salle model 5219. The La Salle was a companion car to Cadillac that took styling cues from both Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell, and actually outsold Cadillac by a considerable margin before production ceased in 1940. There are over $12,000 in receipts to bring this particular car up to its current condition and it has been driven fewer than 5,000 miles since completion. This car has resided in California for a great many years and appears to be completely rust free. It comes with repair manuals, as well as documentation for many of the vehicle’s repairs. Here is some of the work that we put into it: Completely rebuilt and balanced motor. It runs very smooth and quiet.Completely new, original style wiring from the firewall forward, as well as new wiring for the rear lights and trunk.New brakesNew tiresComplete interior replacementNew radiatorFront clip removed for engine rebuild and new inner splash panels installed. As with any car of this age, there are some flaws that should be noted. Firstly, at some point in the car’s life, it was stripped to bare metal, color matched, and painted with lacquer paint. As this was done over twenty years ago, the paint is starting to show its age. I tried to show the paint defects, as well as some pitting in the chrome, as best as I can in the pictures. All that said, the car is certainly presentable enough to enter into shows and go touring. Cars from the pre-war era are getting ever harder to find in decent condition and this would make a fine addition to any collection. If you have any questions whatsoever or want more pictures of something in particular, just shoot me a message and my business partner or I will get back to you ASAP—either through the Ebay messaging system or via phone (just leave your name and number.)Thanks for looking and good luck! Payment and Shipping A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due via Paypal within 24 hours of auction end. If the deposit is not made within this time frame, the car will be offered to the 2nd highest bidder. The remainder of the balance is to be paid via wire transfer or certified cashier’s check (from a US bank ONLY). If desired, we can assist in car shipping, but all costs are the buyer’s responsibility. http://tinypic.com/a/2kx0j/3 for more pictures.
