Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE THIS BEAUTY WILLSELL! 1964 Corvair Turbo Convertible, very rare model only 4,761 produced and few are left especially in this condition. For 1964 significant engineering and safety changes occurred, while the model lineup remained relatively unchanged. The engine displacement was increased from 145 to 164 in³ (2.3 to 2.7 L) due to an increase in stroke; the base engine power increased from 80 to 95 hp (60 to 70 kW), and the high performance engine increased from 95 to 110 hp (70 to 80 kW). The Spyder engine rating remained at 150 hp (112 kW) despite the displacement increase of the engine. 1964 saw an improvement in the car's swing axle rear suspension; a transverse leaf spring was added in an effort to diminish rear roll stiffness and foster more neutral handling attributes in addition to supporting a high proportion of the engine weight. Spring rates could now be softer at both ends of the car compared to previous models. The Spyder package consisted of lower front fender Spyder emblems and a round turbocharged emblem on the trunk.Wheels covers had a special spyder inserts in the middle of the cap.The interior featured full instrumentation and a brushed metal dash insert. Heavyduty finned rear brake drums and of course the 150 hp. turbo engine. Here's what a current auto enthusisast test drive on a 1964 turbo Spyder had to say, Two-lane mountain roads, the Corvair doesn't feel like a 1964 model; steering is precise without twitchiness, and when driven smoothly rather than abruptly, the car goes where it should even at slightly immoderate speeds. A tall driver with the seat adjusted back stretches for first or third, but the shifter operates easily, and everything else is fine. The big surprise is hearing the engine and the fan over the minimal body and wind noise. It sounds like no other American car. This Spyder is in excellent condition and it is a kick in the pants to drive! Little things like the map pockets in the door panels still have the elastic in them, original steering wheel gorgeous, spyder center caps intact and very presentable, factory small 4 speed shift ball, engine chrome still in excellent condition etc. The manual steering is so easy you can parallel park with one hand plus it has 5 brand new Hankook tires. This car is very solid with no mechinal issues, comes with parade boot, car cover and tonneau cover. The top is good condition with no tears and a new back window. Body paint is shiny straight snd clean. Overall a fun and very rare affordable classic with no reserve! call me with all questions about engine, body, paint, rust etc. Rich 206-261-5324 happy to answer all questions!
