Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a gorgeous 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9. This is the better looking, more powerful, and more desirable European model. This Mercedes has 138, 722 kilometers on the odometer and overall is in good condition. Background This is a 1 1/2 owner car which was originally purchased and imported by a physician in Las Vegas, NV. It spent the majority of its life in Las Vegas and was brought to Colorado by a local Mercedes dealer around 5 years ago. We acquired the car from the dealership in early 2010 and it has been in our warehouse being repaired since then. We have a thick folder of receipts for this car dating back to its original life in Germany. The hydro pneumatic suspension raises and lowers the car effortlessly and the factory positraction rear end is still in place and working as it should. The interior of this car is in wonderful condition with the only "major" issue being some staining on the carpets. The seats are not torn and the dash only has minor cracking. The stereo works well as does the engine pre-heater (an option from Mercedes that used a dial timer and an electric heater to preheat the engine coolant for cold temperatures and driver/passenger comfort) The heater works quite well and the air conditioning blows "cool" but not "cold" (more detail later). The paint looks great from 10' but could use some work if you look closely. There is some fading on the drivers front fender (pictured) and some minor bubbling around the antennae and above the drivers rear light. The only rust of consequence on the car is on the rear fender wells in front of the rear tires (pictured). The windows are tinted and the chrome looks GREAT. Repairs When we acquired the car it had been sitting for a little over a year. We proceeded to do the things that needed to be done to get it running and make it roadworthy. The fuel system was completely gone through. All parts were replaced with either used spares we had or new parts sourced directly from Mercedes-Benz. The pump and filter were replaced with new units. The fuel accumulator was tested and cleaned. All fuel lines were removed from the car and cleaned out with air and an ultrasonic cleaner. The warm up regulator was replaced with a rebuilt used part. The fuel distributor was replaced with a used one. All of the fuel injectors were removed, cleaned in the ultrasonic, tested and replaced. The fuel tank was removed, cleaned out, and reinstalled with a new fuel strainer in place. The brakes were bled and work great. The rear brake lines are weeping and we intend to replace them. The rear output seal on the transmission was replaced. The car got a new battery and all systems have been thoroughly checked. The body got a good cleaning and buffing and brought the shine back in the paint. What it still needs Although we put a lot of time and effort into this car, it is not perfect and still needs some minor work. The rear nitrogen canisters which "absorb" the bumps in the road are blown and need to be replaced. The car is still drivable but a bit bouncy in the back. The air conditioning needs to be charged to blow very cold. If you wanted to make it a show car it would need some rust repair and paint. Overall Overall, this is a very very nice car and with little effort could be 100%. These classic Mercedes are drastically increasing in value especially the European models. An all original 2000 mile example of this car sold for $175,000 US at the Mercedes-Benz classic car center in California recently. The car was fully titled and licensed in the state of Nevada and currently has a clear Colorado title. Buyer is responsible for shipping. A $1000 deposit is due within 3 days of auction close and full payment is due within 7 days of auction closing. We can store the car in our heated warehouse for $75 per month while shipping is arranged. Sale is final with no guarantees or warranty.
