Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my truck which I have used for my remodeling business since 2002. I purchased the vehicle in May of 2002 with 58,190 miles on it. This Ford F150 has been very reliable for me ever since I bought it. It has always started up first time, runs great and shifts smooth. In the nine years that I have owned it, I have replaced many items. I will show all of these below in a very detailed listing. I am sorry that the description is very long but I believe that every nuance of a vehicle sold on ebay should be noted due to the fact that the prospective buyer is putting a bid on a vehicle and committing to a sale without ever setting foot in it first. There should be no surprises. The reason I am selling it is because I am treating myself to a new truck. ENGINE/MECHANICALS: 4.2 Litre V6 runs great. I had the valve covers replaced 11 months ago. I had all six fuel injectors replaced 3 months ago when one of them went bad. The battery was purchased December 2007 at 125,000 miles. The ECM computer was replaced three months ago as well as the instrument cluster in front of the driver. I have a check engine light that goes on from time to time. I had the shop check the code and it is code P420. My mechanic said this is a catalyst efficiency code and means the catalytic converter may have to be replaced in the future. He did also say the because the light is not on all the time, an injector flush might significantly help get the carbon buildup out of the converter and increase the life of it. The alternator was replaced in October 2008 at 135,000 miles. Every once in a while, when the vehicle is warm and idling, the oil guage fluctuates a little and causes the idiot light to go on for a second or two. This has been happening for several months and I have not been concerned with it because it doesn't happen very often. The power steering leaks a little bit. You have to add fluid every eight months or ten months. Once a month or so, the airbag light goes on for no apparent reason. TRANSMISSION: The transmission went out on me in February 2005 at 83,000 miles. I had Ford put a new transmission in it and it has been trouble free since. I had the gasket and filter replaced 11 months ago. I see some seepage coming out from around the pan gasket and either the bolts need tightening or you need a new gasket. The trans lines were replaced 11 months ago because they were leaking. The plastic end of my shift lever where the tow/haul switch is located has broken off (see picture). It does not affect anything other than not being able to press the switch. If you were to tow a heavy trailer for some distance, you would need to get this fixed. Local hauls and tows would not be a problem as I did this from time to time without a problem. BODY/PAINT: There are no crashes in this vehicles history. There are door dings and scratches which are common to any 14 year old work truck but the paint is in good shape. I was a little mad a year ago when I came back to my vehicle in the shopping center and found another vehicle had misjudged his entry and scraped my LR corner, causing the tailight lens to crack, but not break off. He did put a very small and minor dent in the corner also (see picture). There is body rust in the LR and RR quarters (see pictures). FRAME/SUSPENSION/UNDERBODY: The frame is in great shape. I have never ever been in a crash in this vehicle and the previous owner told me the same. The suspension parts that have been replaced have been upper control arms/ball joints in October 2005 at 100,000 miles. In the last year I replaced the lower ball joints, all four tie rod ends and both sway bar bushings. I had the vehicle aligned right after that. The exhaust is original to the truck. The pipes are fine but the muffler is rusted out at the seam. It has been like this for three years and I was waiting for it to get worse before I replaced it but it has stayed the same for three years. It is not loud at all. I wish everything on the truck lasted as long as the exhaust system has! About 2005, I took the truck to a suspension shop and had them add a leaf to the rear springs so I could carry more weight. I have loaded 2600 lbs of payload without any problems. A class III hitch was installed in 2005. BRAKES/TIRES: I put Michelin LTX M/S tires on all four corners in March of 2004 at 80,000 miles. I had the tires rotated and balanced by the tire shop every 6000 miles. When I went to the shop last week, I had them check the treadwear. They all are at 8/32". New is 13/32". This equates to at least 20,000 miles left. These tires are incredible when it comes to traction and treadwear. The shop said they see vehicles that have these tires all the time and it is not uncommon at all to see 100,000 miles or more on a set. Front brakes were replaced in May 2009 at 142,000 miles. I am pretty sure I had the rear brakes done at the same time. Brakes are fine but there is a slight pulsation coming on and in the past I have just had the rotors trued and this has fixed it. Front brake hoses were replaced 11 months ago and the front calipers and rotors were replaced at 115,000 miles. INTERIOR: No tears in the cloth seats and they are in good shape. I have never smoked in it. WeatherGuard floor mats included. Some dirt and grime on the carpeted floor but came be removed with a detail job. Factory cassette radio works fine. AC cold as of last time I used it in September 2010 and heat works fine also. I am including the A.R.E. contractor cap. It has doors on all three sides, cabinets on left and right side and all locks work PAYMENT: $100 due within 24 hours of close of auction via PAYPAL.
