Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is an excellent RUST FREE Wrangler that is originally from Missouri. When it came to Wisconsin I removed the interior and fully Rhino-lined the tub to insure it always remained rust free (can be seen in the last pictures, the sanding process, and some of the sprayed panels. It can also be seen that there are no holes or rust in the floors) . In the summer I only use the Bikini top, so I keep the carpet and the rubber grommets out, that way it never collects water, and never rusts…I learned this in Mexico where all of their open top vehicles have had these things removed. The underside was done in Por-15 and rubberized undercoating, this way it never sees the elements at all. Every part of the chassis remains rust free, as do the leaf springs and everything else. Last summer the exhaust system was replaced, so it is also brand new. The interior comes with waterproof seats, although there is a slight tear on the material on the right front corner of the passenger seat…it is not visible due to the seat cover. The owner previous to me pulled the engine and had it professionally rebuilt, I have the receipts for the work he had done. There are around 45,000 miles on this engine, and it runs perfectly. I have new brakes both front and rear. In the pics with the hardtop are the tires that come with the Jeep…the ones on the silver rims (the other pics show older tires on black rims)…these are brand new tires with super tread for traction…they are BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A 31 inch by 10.5 tires…you can’t get stuck with these. In addition to the stereo mounted in the dash (an old stereo that doesn’t work), I have mounted in a hidden compartment a new JVC CD deck that operates with a remote. Since the Jeep is always open in the warmer weather, I figure if someone wants to steal my old stereo from the dash, they are welcome to it! But my good stereo stays safe. I also have a new sound bar with 6 speakers in it that I installed last summer. In addition to two Bikini tops (One brand new last summer and only has 2 months of use so far), I have the hardtop that I put on in the winter, and the soft top with all its hardware that I rarely ever use. The soft top is starting to show its age, with a tear in the right rear attachment…although it is still use-able. Sometimes I use it briefly as weather gets chilly, when I haven’t yet had the time to put the hard top on. I usually use the Wrangler door-less, but I have two full doors and also two half doors that go with it…and the half doors have two canvass tops. I’ve never used the canvass tops, except once to insure they fit and worked. I believe the driver’s side has some duct tape on the plastic window if memory serves correct. The front chrome bumper is also starting to show its age, I have to go over it twice a year with some steel wool and wax to keep it from getting little specs of rust on it. Where the joints are is the hardest area to keep clean. As can be expected with an antique that is 24 years old that is all original, of course there are little scratches, nicks, and dings…but when compared to any other Jeep of the same year, this one will always come out on top, it is that clean. I have owned over 20 Jeeps, and this is the cleanest older Wrangler I have owned. I have had a 25 point inspection done within the last two months, and except for the blinker, and gauge issue, everything is in tip-top shape. The clock doesn’t work, and the temperature gauge works, but only about 30% of the time. I believe I have a connection problem at the sensor. The only other problem I am aware of is that I need to turn the left blinker off manually…both blinkers work, but one doesn’t turn off by itself. All of these things are simple fixes, and it doesn’t seem to matter what vehicle a person has, there are always one or two things needing repair. For this Jeep those are simple things… This Wrangler will not disappoint, it is the cleanest 1987 you will ever find. It has been well cared for. Happy Bidding, remember, this is a NO RESERVE auction, so whoever wins this auction, will take this Jeep home.
