Vehicle Detail
This freshly painted 1975 Caprice Classic convertible has been in my possession since 1986. The original V-8 400 4-barrel hums and the car shifts and steers smoothly. Since I've never needed to do any mechanical repairs other than to change a fuel pump, I assume that the engine and transmission are all original. I had the air conditioning converted from R-12 to R-134 and it works perfectly. I began a restoration but due to a pending move, am forced to sell. - Strong points: Just painted, looks great. No known collisions or accidents. Fitted with tow hitch and ball w/wiring for trailer lights. A/C converted. Original Delco AM/FM with working 8-track player. Exhaust and catalytic converter all fine. Smooth running major mechanicals. Great tread all around, original Chevy wire wheel covers. - Challenges: restoration not completed. White top has small hole and broken back window. Needs to be replaced, and top needs tune up, inc. relay, top motor and cables. Convertible top driver's side internal latch needs to be welded or replaced. Chrome trim and "Chevy" insignia removed for paint job (all intact and on-hand), passenger compartment sheet metal floor pans and trunk pans need to be cut out and replaced, solid temporary fix in place, so you can tackle that months or even years from now. There is no corrosion on the mainframe. Interior: some corrosion above windshield on trim, dashboard cracked, bench seats have original white vinyl, need to be reupholstered, front seat vinyl is torn. Carpet is removed. Gas gauge inop. Side rear view mirror and drivers door panel need to be re-installed. Speedometer inop (28,533.1 showing, I believe it flipped once, actual milage is approx. 128,550, the speedometer came back from paint shop inop). Needs drivers door external key lock (came back from paint shop missing). Ready for full off frame or completion of my incomplete partial restoration. This is a great running car, I hate to part with it. Anyone with a garage or backyard to work in can make this a great looking run-about with minimum effort. State inspection expired but its ready to drive away. Unusually smooth engine, transmission and drivetrain are all worth the investment alone. E-mail with questions.
