Vehicle Detail

As with most everyone selling something this special, it's hard. But I have realized I am a car person and need to move this bike on to someone that can appreciate it more than me. I am only selling this bike to fund some long overdue car projects. This bike is a serious survivor! A lot of people will describe their bikes as survivors but this is the best example I have seen. I bought this bike from a friend whose dad passed away and left him the bike about 3 years ago. He remembered sitting on the bike in the showroom as a little kid. I bought the bike in 2008, until then this bike had been ridden very little between 1968 and 1997. When I purchased the bike it was only showing 7300 miles and still had the original, "made in Great Brittan", Dunlop K70's that were original to the bike (I will include these original tires with the bike when bought if you want them). When I bought the bike it hadn't run in maybe 7-10 years, it just sat in his fathers garage as he became to ill to ride. The bike was 100% original when I picked it up, except his father at some point removed the original twin carbs and installed a single manifold with one of the carbs for better drivability he said. The bike was perfect! Original tires and seat cover with one very small rip, paint was in good shape, the worst part was that it was very dirty from sitting. First thing I did was change the oil, pulled the carb off for a rebuild and added fuel, she fired right up! Next I was able to use a rust desolver to clean the tank. It cleaned up perfectly and has not needed a cream sealer at all! I then put new proper Dunlop k 70's on front and rear, installed new plugs, adjusted the valves, adjusted the brakes, and rode it for about 1000 miles with no problems at all! Then in the winter of 2009-2010, I decided to take it to the local Triumph/BSA Expert, Conard Schultz for a complete once over. I had him change it back over to twin carbs as to make it original, he replaced the battery with a sealed cell, replaced the seat cover, rear shocks, balanced the tires, aligned it and replaced the shock oil. He also replaced the chain and switched out the rear gear to a taller more highway friendly gear and replaced the rear brakes. He also did a great detail job while he had it. The bike is a little bit more finaky with twin carbs than a single, but runs out so much better! Feel confident purchasing this bike that it is completley reliable and runs perfectly. Trans shifts smooth and brakes work great. This bike has never been disassembled and hasn't had any paint work. There are no signs of this bike ever being laid down. The original paint shines great for its age and the only minor flaw is on the tank where the mirror scratched it at some point, but did not dent it. This bike would be the perfect rider to keep just like it is or would be perfect to restore. All though it is a time capsule and I would personally leave it just as it is. I am describing this bike as thoroughly as I can, so please remember this bike has not been restored, and it does show it's age. It has a small oil leak, but is way way above average for it's age.
