Vehicle Detail
1973 Porsche 914/1.7 in Excellent Original Condition! This is my brother's car and I cannot say enough good things about it. I am a 20+ year Porsche Club of America and 356 Registry member. A dedicated Porschephile. This is my brother's second 914 and it has been an excellent car. All original parts and no rust top or bottom. (When he decided to buy his second 914 I made some stipulations: no rust and no mechanical problems. I was not about to spend hours of my life under another car instead of inside it) This 914 has no rust anywhere. Even the battery box is original and unmolested with only a very minor surface rust to it. (Not a rusty mess or eaten up I assure you). The body, pans, rockers, everything is solid, rust free and original. This has been a very well cared for car. It retains its original fuel injection system and has not been butchered in any way. (I played the carb conversion game in the past on other cars and its not worth the headache) The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner and runs great. Turbo tie rods update. Mechanicals and body are really good throughout. This is an overall great original car. I have seen very few 914s that are nice AND original like this. The interior is in great shape with no rips, tears or other damage. Needs nothing (except maybe some armor all). The only change from original is a repaint in British Racing Green. This car was purchased by my brother in 2007 from the second owner, a schoolteacher in Wisconsin. It was driven only in good weather and quite obviously was meticulously cared for by him. My brother bought the car because of feelings of nostalgia for his first 914. We then drove the car back to West Virginia without a hitch. Unfortunately since then it has been used very little (only in good summer weather, and then only rarely) and is now really just taking up valuable garage space. He feels its time to pass it along to someone who will get more use and appreciation from it. If you are looking for a really good all around 914, this is it. No its not a show car but it could definitely become one. This is a 1973 model with all the updates that came in that year from Porsche. If you are looking at this car I am assuming you have done your research and know why it is so desirable. My picture taking ability is only fair on my best days. Be aware that the car looks better than the pics, but they do serve their purpose. What this car needs most is a good cleaning and waxing. It has collected some dust and dirt from sitting although it always wears a car cover. It gets started every one - two months and driven regularly only in nice summer weather except for the occasional short drive in good weather throughout the other seasons to keep everything moving. I am a believer in running a car every so often to keep it from rotting away, so this one gets on the road once throughout every season to keep it in top shape. This car has not been restored or messed with in any way. It retains its original engine, sheet metal rockers, pans, etc. This makes it a rarity, as many of these cars have been rotted out and repaired poorly. It comes rust free with all its parts from the factory as Porsche intended. If you are looking for a good example of this model you have found it! If you you are looking for a trailer queen, show car that you are afraid to drive for fear of getting it dirty, look elsewhere. (If you want to turn it into that though, this would be a great car to start with. I've just never had the patience to truly clean a car for a real concours event). I've looked at some very nice 914's and all this one needs to be there is a good cleaning. We just don't have the time for that kind of thing and realize it, which is one of the reasons this car is up for sale. This is an excellent original car that really doesn't need anything to be a great weekend car or daily driver. We have had no issues with this car and have found it to be solid and reliable. It looks good and runs good, it just needs a new home. I have been an ebayer for quite a few years with an excellent reputation and intend to keep it that way. I have bought and sold a few (not many) cars on ebay in the past and have had good experiences. I would like to keep it that way. Look at my feedback, bid often and bid confidently. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. This car is for local pickup or you (the buyer) can arrange for shipping. Yes it can be shipped overseas. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. There is no warranty, stated, implied, or otherwise. If you have questions you can email them or call John at 304-826-7115. In short this is a good reliable car that has not been restored or modified (except for the paint, which is very nice). It does not need restored. It does need a good home that will continue to take care of it and protect it as it has been throughout its life. If this is the kind of car you want, and the kind of person you are, do not miss this RARE opportunity. The mileage reads 10144 on the odometer. I assume its turned over once, but this car just doesn't feel like it to me. We drove it all the way from Wisconsin to West Virginia without a problem when it was purchased. It could certainly do that trip again without hesitation. (Actually, while writing this I think I am starting to regret letting it go). I have looked at quite a few 914's in my time and way too many of them have been rusted, modified, or "restored" for my taste. My brother bought this car because of its good overall original condition and that's what it has going for it. This little car has been used gently and cared for lovingly throughout its life. I've spent too much time with porsches that don't fit this bill to know the difference. READ CAREFULLY : $500 deposit thru paypal required within 48 hours of auction ending. Remainder to be paid within 7 days of auction ending or car will be relisted. (payable by Cashier's check). IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK THEM. DON'T WHINE AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS IF YOU DIDN'T BOTHER TO ASK QUESTIONS OR CLARIFY SOMETHING!
