This car is in AMAZING condition. It only has 126,000 miles from new and over 31 years that averages 4,000 miles a year and it shows. The exterior is excellent. No dents and NO rust. Original tan or buckskin paint in super condition (always garaged). Interior is also excellent. It is a medium to dark chocolate or tobacco brown and it is in superb condition. Headliner, seats, door panels and carpet all look like new. Engine compartment is clean and tidy. Just converted to new 134 A/C refrigerant and replaced the compressor and climate control valve. Had it tuned, oil changed and transmission serviced. This car has been well maintained and serviced. Spent over $3,000 on the A/C conversion and tune up. I wouldn't be afraid to drive this car anywhere. Fly into Boise and drive home or can assist with auto transport. It has the reliable dual overhead cam six cylinder gas engine. Never smoked in, to my knowledge. Has the original Becker (Mexico) AM-FM-cassette player that works great. Speakers work great. This car looks stunning and gets compliments everywhere it goes. It starts instantly and runs super. It drives solid and straight like a Mercedes should. No known issues with this car. There are no rattles, shakes or noises as drive you drive this beauty. The trunk looks like it hasn't been used. It still has the original Mercedes first aid kit in the back window shelf. The Toyo radials appear to have about 40% tread remaining. Just installed NEW Mastercraft (Cooper) studded snow tires and they come with the car. NADA classics shows that the 1980 Mercedes 280 SE has a current average retail of $7,300 and a high retail of $9,650. Original MSRP was $30,500. I believe this to be an extremely well maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear and very low mileage. The exterior paint, interior and mechanicals are not in need of reconditioning. I would rank this car as an 8 or 9 on a scale of 1-10.
