Vehicle Detail
***No Reserve Auction*** Here is my Beautiful Black on Black 1973 Porsche 914, Appearance Group Model, purchased within the last year, from its original owner, and restored to what you see today, with all original OEM parts...This 914 will come with its "Certificate of Authenticity" directly from Porsche of North America. This 914 has been a Solid Dry Desert Vehicle its whole life. The original owner started restoring this vehicle in 2006... with the engine rebuild Then had the car repainted, from its original Metalic Blue, to gorgeous Black in 2007. He stopped short of restoring the interior. And over its 38 years, the cars interior had really shown its age... seats were torn, steering wheel replaced with aftermarket, Shifter was aftermarket, carpets torn and worn, missing knobs, Speedo/Odometer Broken, aftermarket stereo, cracked dash, on and on...So...in the last several months, that I have owned it...it was my mission to finish what the original owner started.... to get this vehicle to what you see in the pictures today.....I found original seats, seat surround, carpets, dash, Leather Steering wheel, stick shift and knob, original Blaupunkt radio, center console...etc etc etc....., that were all found in excellent, near mint condition, then all of them put together, brought this car back to its original state..Nothing replica, all original, including the original upholstering....To get this car finished, I personally invested $3K. The rebuilt engine has only 20,500 miles on it (high compression/runs smooth, clean and cool) and has its original Fuel Injection system....and no sloppy grind shifting as with 1970-72 models. The 1973 914, introduced a new side-shift 4 speed transmission, that still shifts very smooth, into all gears... Original Fuchs 2 Liter Rims, with no curb rash, in amazing condition, and has newer BF Goodrich G-Force Tires that have 75% Tread. This beautiful 914 looks and runs like new! You won't believe it is 38 years old!Look at the larger close-up pictures below!.... This highly sought after 1973 Model Year came with many improvements over earlier models (see Hemmings report below).... Comes with original Dated Spare rim/tire, All Manuals (Owners, Maintenance, Emissions..) in the original Porsche Cover. Original Jack, and Tool bag....and a folder of what was done to the vehicle, as well as prices/receipts, history and pictures....You won't see a cleaner Porsche 914 here on eBay! I have a clear California Title, in my name, ready to sign over to the lucky, new owner.... ***No Reserve Auction!!*** Additional Information: Original Engine RainGuard New Alternator/Voltage Regulator/Battery/with Kill Switch (Nov 2010) Original Blaupunkt Am/Fm Radio Original Perfect (Rare!) Some background info on the 914, From Hemmings Motor News: The 914 was produced for seven model years (1970 to 1976), undergoing some minor, but still significant changes along the way. In 1970 and 1971, Porsche offered the 914 and the 914/6. All the cars had non-adjustable passenger seats with a tethered, adjustable footrest in place of a seat adjuster. 1972 914s weren't a whole lot different from the 1970 and 1971 cars, but included a passenger seat adjustment, air vents in the dashboard and improved insulation and sound deadening. It was also the final year for the 914/6. 1973 was the first year for major improvement in the 914. When the 914/6 was dropped, it was replaced with the optional 914 2.0, with a boost of 15 horsepower. Early 914s had a reputation for sloppy shifting, thanks to the shift mechanism being mounted on the very tail of the transmission, two thirds of the car away from the actual shifter, but 1973 ushered in a new "side-shift" shift mechanism that worked much better than the early "tail-shift" transmissions. While the Appearance Group remained optional, it was included on almost all 1973 914s sold in the United States. The group included chrome bumpers, vinyl and aluminum rollbar trim, dual horns, foglamps, cast Pedrini (1.7-liter) or Fuchs (2.0-liter) forged-aluminum wheels, leather steering wheel and shift boot trim, and pile carpeting, as well as a center console with an armrest and storage area, and anti-roll bars on 2.0-liter cars. On Feb-03-11 at 04:37:13 PST, seller added the following information: ***FYI...This vehicle is for sale locally, and I have the right to remove the auction at any time, if it sells here.....Also, I will entertain any email offers, on this Beautiful Porsche, as well....Thank you!***On Feb-03-11 at 10:23:29 PST, seller added the following information: ***Hello...getting a couple of questions about what is on the hood....I listed above that the hood has a very rare, Original Porsche, Naugahyde, racing cover....This is easily removable, if you don't want it on the vehicle (just open the hood, fold it up, to store.. and then close the hood)....Under the cover, the hood is painted a glossy black, just like the rest of the vehicle....Thanks!***On Feb-05-11 at 05:45:38 PST, seller added the following information: Since I'm getting a few questions about condition, I wanted to point out that even though this car has been "refreshed" with better condition OEM components, painted, and engine overhauled, it is not a show car....This is a beautiful "refreshed" daily runner, and will give the new owner many years of enjoyment....Remember this is a 38 year old car, and not new....This sale will be an As Is sale....Thank you, and good luck!
