Vehicle Detail
$14,000 NO RESERVE *1961 Impala Bubbletop 2 owner Barnfind*NO RESERVE $14,000 Thats right this is a beautiful survivor 61 Chevy Impala 2 door coupe that is complete from bumper to bumper. It has complete original interior which is in unreal shape,no rips or cuts, carpet is faded but all there. The dash looks great all bezels and radio in great shape. All interior lights work YES all lights work, matter of fact the wiring under the dash looks like new, nothing has been cut or spliced. All window cranks work the windows roll up and down and the vent windows as well. Starting from the front of the car the grill and bumpers are all in great original condition. The headlights are still the T3's and the bezels are also in great original shape.Moving down the driver side fender number one thing about both front fenders no rust above the headlights which all 61's are notorious for. However at the bottom of the driver fender there has been some bodywork done in years past and a small section is bubbling. The car was last painted in 1980 and has only had one repaint which was exterior only.On the drivers side it looks as if sometime it had a small crease from the fender, door, and start of the quarter.Someone did try to fix this but it is not dead straight. The side trim is like on most original cars it has several small dings in the trim. The doors line up great and close with the slightest touch,no sagging or slamming required. The driverside quarter has the typical rust at the bottom where the fender skirt meets is has a place about the size of dime on bothe sides. The trunk is super solid no rust and it actually looks like new.It still has the original spare and jack and also has the sticker. In the trunk pictures you will see a rare $700-800 front grill guard that goes with the car.The chrome on the guard is in great original shape. The passengerside trim also has the typical dings in it,my advice would be either roll it like it is or do a body/paintjob and install a new trim kit for a show quality look. The passenger door also closes with ease no slamming or sagging. Both rocker panels are in great solid shape no signs of rust or bubbling and the underside of this car is in superb original shape. No holes in the floors or rockers or braces. This car has been either garage or barn kept its entire life and the underside is proof. On the passenger side where the top and body meet at the rear there is an area that has started to surface rust, meaning its not rotted or rusted out just an area of surface thats starting to be noticeable. The passengerside is better than the driver side as far as the bodywork but it still would need some attention to be dead straight. The hood is in unbelievable shape,no rust underside still has the original insulation whick looks great. It also opens and closes with ease. The glass in the car is original but looks good and is presentable, the chrome around the driver and pass side is starting to pit.All lights turn signals, brake lights high beam low beam, work which as any of you know is a miracle.I have never had an Impala all the wiring wasn't messed up on in some way, this car all wiring looks great. The engine is the original 283 factory 2bbl and it was rebuilt by the second owner in 1994 and he only put 600 miles on it when it was parked in 1998 which is the last inspection on the car.The transmission was also replaced it was originally a Turboglide heavy cast and was replaced with an aluminum 64 powerglide,so both engine and trans have about 600 miles. This car has only a driverside mirror and the antenna is on the front pass fender it also has the original fender skirts. All the gravel pans are in great original shape under the front and rear bumpers. When I picked this car up it was not running so we put new points, plugs, coil, and battery in the car and she fired right up.When the second owner parked the car he ran it out of gas so the lines were clear and I put 5 gallons in her and she runs on her own with the flip of the switch.I would recommend to whoever purchases this sweet ride to go through and put new brakes on just because it set since '98.Drum brakes are farely inexpensive and its just piece of mind when you have to use them. The car will run and stop no problem but to be road worthy or a long trip I would go through and check all belts and hoses.Under the hood looks bone stock all the way down to the optikleen bottle.Heck the horn even works...LOL OK TO THE FUN STUFF THIS CAR IS A RARE ONE TO EVEN FIND IT IS NOT PERFECT AND THIS IS NOT BEING REPRESENTED AS A PERFECT CAR.THIS CAR COULD EASILY BE FIXED AND MADE INTO A REALLY NICE CAR EVERYTHING IS THERE AND COMPLETE.IT HAS A CLEAR 2 OWNER NORTH CAROLINA TITLE AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN A N.C. CAR ORIGINALLY FROM SHELBY,N.C.
