Vehicle Detail
I am selling my bucket truck which I have owned for last 6 years. It is a 1988 Chevrolet C30, dually, galvanized service body, Versalift, 34' working height, dual controls (in bucket and on base in truck bed), normal and low speed on boom operation, emergency electric back up on boom operation should generator cut off, plenty of storage for tools and equipment with locking system, ladder rack, dual fuel tanks, V8, gas, 4 speed with the awesome "Granny" gear, and good tires. Great truck for tree removal, Sign work, Cable work, Painting, Trimming, Leyland Hedges, Electrical work, Lighting service jobs, the uses are endless... The Versalift boom was manufactured & installed on truck in 1995. I am second owner and I purchased it with 27,000 miles on it. This is not a typo, there are NOT 130,000 on this truck. I noticed after I bought the truck and had it inspected locally the kid at the station had written 127,000 miles on the inspection certificate since any other truck of this year would surely have that mileage as he ASS-umed so the state may have that in their system somewhere but come see for yourself and drive this truck and you will easily agree that this is no 100,000+ mile truck. The truck is in great mechanical shape. The first owner was from Zebulon, Georgia, and I live in Lenoir, NC. This is a southern US truck and I certainly have never driven it in snow. Georgia and NC get very little snow so you will not have the problems you will find with all the bucket trucks from up North where the salt has been chewing on them for years. The ladder rack (which I did not even keep on the truck), has some surface rust that needs sanding and spraying but who needs a ladder if you have a bucket truck? It simply comes on and off with 4 bolts. I have simply put it back on to sell it. The Onan generator only has 505 hours on it and I had both motors (truck and generator) serviced on 9-15-2009 at 29078 miles. The truck has power steering and drives great. I had the brake hydra booster and master cylinder replaced when I purchased the truck in 2005 and last year I had the front rotors turned and calipers replaced as one was sticking so the brakes are excellent. I have all service receipts from my local NAPA dealer that has performed the maintenance. I replaced the flimsy bucket door with a sturdy 3/4 inch homemade one for safety. The other one got cracked triming a tree. This truck has some small dents in the hood and top where I have had small branches fall on it from trimming trees in my yard. I have used this for home maintenance only as I like playing with chainsaws and pressure washers. I also used it to trim my leyland hedges but I am moving and will no longer need it at new residence. It mostly stays parked under my awning. Oh yeah, a really good feature of this boom design is it will fit under a small 2 car awning with some 4x4's under each side to give it a little extra height. Don't Try that with some of the bucket designs I have seen. The galvanized service body and the cage for the generator have paint peeling issues but this is easily corrected. I know alot of the bucket trucks you see on Ebay are newer and repainted but would you rather have nice paint OR EXTREMELY LOW MILES? Paint is much cheaper than motors, transmissions, generators and the like. I submit that the older versions are made better anyway! I also noticed that these refurbished trucks with well over 100,000 miles are routinely no-selling for $8,000+!! The truck is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if sold. Obviously the truck is sold: AS-IS and WHERE-IS with no warranties or guarantees expressed or implied. The truck is tagged for personal use in NC and has been inspected for same. This is a "smaller" bucket truck and goes where some of the larger bucket trucks can't. It is easy to drive and operate and NO CDL needed. Any equipment or vehicle that require inspections on the upper unit or chassis will be solely the responsibility of the buyer. I will not be responsible for any kind of inspection either prior to or after purchase. You are welcome to have the truck inspected at 100% of cost to you. This truck is surely the best value on Ebay for a used bucket truck due to the low mileage, low hours on the generator and lack of use in the "rust-belt states.
