AS FAR AS I CAN TELL WITH MY NUMEROUS YEARS IN DEALING WITH OLDER COLLECTIBLE CARS THIS CAR IS FREE FROM ANY ACCIDENTS EVER WITH ZERO RUST ON ANY OF THE OUTER BODY PANELS, LOWER PANELS, INNER PANELS, FLOOR BOARDS, TRUNK FLOOR, AND FRAME RAILS. ONLY PLACE OF RUST IS A SMALL AREA IN THE BATTERY TRAY. THE CAR DOES HAVE SOME MINOR DINGS AND ONE APPROX. 3" DENT ON SIDE OF DRIVER REAR QUARTER, TRUNK LID BY THE 323I TRUNK BADGE, AND ONE 2" DENT ON THE HOOD. I BELIEVE MOST OF THESE CAN BE REMOVED BY A DENT EXPERT TO MAKE NEARLY 100% THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REGISTERED IN CALIFORNIA SINCE IT LEFT GERMANY AND HAS CURRENT CALIFORNIA PLATES UNTIL JUNE 6TH, 2011 VEHICLE HAS BEEN DOT AND EPA CERTIFIED IN CALIFORNIA AND HAS THE EVER IMPORTANT BUREAU OF AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR(BAR) METAL PLATE ON DRIVER DOOR JAMB!!!!! THIS MEANS THIS CAR CAN BE REGISTERED IN CALIFORNIA (ONE OF THE TOUGHEST SMOG STATES) FOREVER!!!! I HAVE PERSONALLY OWNED MORE THAN SEVERAL BAURS AND VARIOUS OTHER E30 M3'S AND 325IS'S. IT HAS BEEN 7 YEARS SINCE MY LAST BAUR OWNERSHIP AND SINCE THE LAST 5 YEARS I HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY LOOKING FOR ONE THAT I WOULD CONSIDER OWNING. THIS CAR CAME INTO MY SIGHTS NEARLY 2 YEARS AGO IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. WITH DETAILED CONVERSATIONS WITH THE OWNER AND NUMEROUS DETAILED PHOTOS I WAS READY TO MAKE THE PURCHASE. THIS CAR HAS GIVEN ME NOTHING BUT JOY OF OPEN TOP MOTORING AND DRIVING THE ULTIMATE DRIVING(TANNING) MACHINE. I HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR ONLY IN GOOD WEATHER AND ON OCCASIONAL WEEKENDS AND NEVER IN THE RAIN. IT IS A VERY DEPENDABLE (AS FAR AS A 27 YEAR OLD CAR IS CONCERNED) AND HAS BEEN WELL PRESERVED AND CARED FOR. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAS PERFORMED ALL PRECAUTIONARY MAINTENANCE LESS THAN 15K MILES AGO SUCH AS TIMING BELT, BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS, NEW FAN CLUTCH, NEW HOSES, DISTRIBUTOR ROTOR/CAP, FUEL HOSES, VALVE GASKET, ETC.................................THOUSANDS $$ SPENT FROM PREVIOUS METICULOUS COLLECTOR BEST OF ALL THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 114K AS WELL AS THE POWER STEERING RACK AND A NEW MUFFLER WAS INSTALLED. I HAVE PERSONALLY INSTALLED A BRAND NEW FACTORY BEHR RADIATOR 2 WEEKS AGO PURCHASED FORM RIVERSIDE BMW, CALIFORNIA SINCE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS QUITE NEW I DID NOT OPT TO CHANGE IT. IF ONE WANTED THE 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION THEY ARE EASILY INTERCHANGEABLE WITH US 325I OR 325IS AND MOST REPUTABLE MECHANICS CAN DO THE JOB. 5 SPEED GEARBOXES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH MANY AUTO DISMANTLERS AND CAN BE FOUND QUITE EASILY THE VEHICLES ISSUES ARE IT DOES IDLE A LITTLE ROUGH IN THE COLD MORNINGS BUT ONCE WARM IT RUNS FINE. STARTER AND FLYWHEEL GRINDS OCCASIONALLY ON STARTS, KEY DOES NOT LOCK PASSENGER DOOR, SOME OIL LEAKS(ADD 1 QUART 2-3 MONTHS DOES NOT BURN OIL), SOME PITTING IN THE FRONT BUMPER CHROME, REAR BUMPER PUSHED IN MINUTELY ON RIGHT SIDE, HEATER CORE IS NOT WORKING, AND NEEDS REAR CONVERTIBLE TOP(CLEAR PLASTIC REAR WINDOW IS IN OFF THE CAR). THERE MAY BE VERY FEW SMALL ITEM I MAY HAVE FORGOTTEN BUT THESE ARE THE PRIMARY AREAS THAT MAY BE OF CONCERN AS YOU CAN SEE FROM SOME OF THE PHOTOS THE VEHICLE DOES COME WITH A FULL SET OF FACTORY OWNERS MANUALS ALONG WITH THE ULTRA RARE "M MOTORSPORT" LEATHER BINDER, FULL SERVICE HISTORY FROM ITS PREVIOUS OWNER WITH NO EXPENSE SPARED MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP, BRAND NEW BMW M MOTORSPORT SEAT BADGE, OPTIONAL FACTORY BMW MOBILITY KIT IN CASE OF FLATS, FACTORY BMW WHEEL LOCK NUTS, FACTORY BMW CENTER LOCK WHEEL ADAPTER, AND VERY RARE FACTORY BMW FRONT AIR DAM (PURCHASED FROM EBAY ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO NEVER MOUNTED) TO SUMMARIZE THE CAR IS A VERY WELL PRESERVED EXAMPLE WITH NO RUSTS ON OUTER AND LOWER BODY PANELS, NO ACCIDENTS FROM THE BEST OF MY EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE, ALL ORIGINAL FACTORY PANELS AND PAINT FROM BAUR FACTORY, 14" SILVER BBS WHEELS GOES WITH THE CAR (15" x 7" BBS ON CAR CAN BE PURCHASED FOR EXTRA), AND ALL THE FACTORY MANUALS, BROCHURES, AND FACTORY BMW MOTORSPORT ACCESSORIES AS PICTURED. THE SMOG OF THIS VEHICLE WILL BE THE BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY. EVENTHOUGH THE CAR PASS SMOG WHEN I PURCHASED IT (HAVE THE ORIGINAL SMOG INSPECTION REPORT) AS WELL AS THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD NO PROBLEM SMOGGING THE CAR. I DO NEED THIS IN WRITING WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DELIVERED. IF THIS CAR LEAVES CALIFORNIA CHANCES ARE THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN REQUIRE A SMOG.
