Vehicle Detail
Hello, I have a rare barn find!! a 1966 Oldsmobile F-85 2 door coupe. This has been in storage for over 20 years. This car Runs and drives and is all original. Would be a great 442 clone canidate. The VIN # 336176G111882 The trim tag info is 05D ST 66-33617 FRA 1695 BODY TR 944A V-V Paint W 5PY The original engine runs great. it is a 330 cubic inch oldsmobile engine with a 2 barrel carburetor. The car starts right up and idles smoothly. The car is being fed from a gas jug sitting under the hood as the original tank has 10 year old gas in it. Nice smooth running original engine. The car has power steering, manual drum brakes. The transmission is a 2 speed powerglide automatic transmission that shifts well. Has a 10 bolt rear end with 3.23 gears. All original drivetrain, runs very well, shift nicely, brakes work well and stop straight. The body is in decent condition, the fenders are rust free, the passenger side fender does have a dent in the front right near the bumper, driver's side fender is very nice. Both doors are rot free and are not dented up. The underside seams of the doors have surface rust only, no rot anywhere on the doors. The rear quarters are surprisingly clean for the age. The passenger side rear quarter does have a dent as shown from what looks like a parking mishap at some point. There is a little bit of rot on the passenger side rear lower quarter under the trim moulding, very repairable. The front windshield channel and upper dash panel are very solid with no visible rot anywhere. The upper and lower cowl areas are in very nice solid condition. The hood is very straight and rust free. The trunk lid is not shut in the pics that is why it doesn't exactly line up with the quarters. Nothing is bent or damaged I just didn't realize it wasn't latched, it does close fine The car has it's original paint, never had any body work done to it. Still has 3 of it's 4 original T3 headlights. The rear window channel does have a small amount of rot in the lower corners, I do have the stainless trim for the rear window in great shape and it is included. The rear part of the roof right above where the window mounts is dented as seen in the photos, not bad, but will need to be straightened. There is a Year one floor pan that has been installed in the car, but they did a quickie job of basically putting the new pan in and tack welding it. The factory floor braces are intact and in good rot free conditionThis would need to be done to a better standard for a show car. The rear trunk pan is rotted as well as seen in the photo, there is a replacement center trunk pan also from Year one just sitting in the trunk. The front inner wheel wells, front radiator support, are in great shape. The rear inner and outer wheel wells are in nice rust free shape as well as the trunk drop offs. The frame has no rust anywhere, the body mounts are in great condition, the frame rails are great even by the rear tires where they all rot, the original paint is still on the frame. It looks like the car was just sitting and the floor pans and trunk pan rotted, the rest of the car is surprisingly solid. All glass is good on this car, very clear. No scratches. All chrome trim is present and most of it is in really nice shape with the exception of the bumpers. The bumpers do have dents on them and would need chroming. the rear tail light bezels are pitted as well. The front grill is in nice condition, all the stainless window mouldings are in great shape. All wheel well mouldings are perfect with the exception of the passenger side rear. The interior is pretty ratty, the seats are there but will need upholstery and foam, the front door panels are actually decent and with a cleaning would be presentable. There is no headliner but all the bows are present. The dash has some crack but is complete and has all factory gauges and the factory AM radio. The factory steering wheel is in nice condition. The windows roll up and down smoothly. The front seat is a bench seat and is included even though it's not in the pic. It does need recovering and foam. The car has 14" wheels and tires and still has the original hub caps. Overall this would be a very nice foundation to start with for a restoration project. This has been unmolested, untouched with the exception of the floor pans. All original. Just so we are clear this car does still need a complete restoration. The car does run and drive and stop but NO I would NOT drive it across country. also please do not bid if you don't intend on following throgh with the purchase.
