The first of the companies car to feature unitary construction, early Mark I's could be indentified by their thick door post, rear wheel spats, deep side panels and wide wraparound chrome bumpers. Underneath the bonnet was a short stroke version of Jaguars Twin camshaft six-cylinder engine. Originally offered as a 2.4 Litre the 3.4 was introduced in 1957 and raised the horsepower to 210 and gave the car a much respected 120 mph top speed. At the same time all around Disc brakes were available on all models. Although having a family resemblance to the larger Mark VII, the Mark I differed in many ways and was a far superior car. The cars independent front suspension featured double wishbones, coil springs, and a anti roll bar. The front suspension sub frame was mounted on the body by rubber mounts. The live rear axle was positively located by quarter elliptic leaf springs, trailing arms and a Panhard Rod in a manner reminiscent of the Jaguar D-Type, being a significant improvement over the other saloons and other XK sports cars. The rear wheel track was some 4.5 in (114mm) narrower than the front track. It was reported to be better balanced at higher speeds. During the late 50's and early 60's the car was said to be the preferred car of Bank Robbers due to it's ample performance and handling, Today the early series I 3.4 Litre Automatic is a gentlemans driver and is highly desirable among Jaguar Enthusiasts and Collectors. This 1959 Jaguar is restored to JCNA Concours D' Elegance Champion condition. It is an export model with 66,070 original miles since new and with only 2000 miles since full restoration. Judging sheets are available the vehicle scored 96.88 pts at the last meet and would compete in any major concours in the country. The vehicle is equipped with all factory original components including it's original 3.4 Litre 210 horsepower XK engine with Dual Carbs and Dual exhaust with all wheel disc brakes. Original factory specification, this 3.4 is a left hand drive coupled to an automatic transmission. The engine has been expertly rebuilt as well as SU carbs and it runs perfect. The exhaust system was replaced and new shocks were installed. The vehicle sits on a set of beautiful set of new wire wheels and whitewall tires, it also has a new steering wheel from England. All glass is original and like new, original factory parts catalog and shop manual are included. This is truly an outstanding vehicle the exterior is finished Olde English White and looks amazing.
