Vehicle Detail
For sale is a rare 1977 Pontiac Can Am. 1 of less than 1400 built. This car is a rust free Arizona Car. It speant its whole life in Arizona and Utah. In Utah is was in dry storage only. As a result this car is RUST FREE!. It has been in dry storage in Houston, Texas since I purchased it in September 2008. This Can Am was originally purchased from Sun Pontiac in Mesa, Arizona. I am the third owner. Factory options include the Can Am Option package, Tilt Steering Wheel, Luxury Cusion Steering Wheel, Stow Away Spare Tire, Delco Am/FM Stereo Radio, Power Windows, Power Drivers Seat, Front and Rear Floor Mats, Inside Hood Release, Soft Ray Glass - All Windows, Cruise Control, Console, Custom Seat Belts, Air Conditioning, Rally RTS Handling Package, Safe-T-Track, and White Vinyl Seats (The interior was originally red with white seats, a sriking color combo). The original selling dealer added American brand T-tops and changed the vinyl seating surfaces to cloth as vinyl was not pleasant in the Arizona Sun. As you can see the car was re- painted by the first owner with some attempt to mimic the factory stripe package. In addition, Trans Am fender extractors were added to the front fenders. Included in this auction are a roll of the original white vinyl material from SMS Fabrics so the seats can be recoverd, a very nice, rust free, dent free set of 77 Lemans fenders to replace the ones with the incorrect extractors (see photo), a better dash pad than the one in the car (has two cracks, but can be repaired), a set of very nice upper door panels to replace the worn ones in the car (see photo - only one set of red upper door panels in included in this auction), a set of Energy Suspension bushings for this car, and other parts to restore the car. The car does not run and has not run since the late 1990's. It does roll freely and all of the electrical works great including the power windows, power seat, lights, etc. The T-tops have their original bag and the T-top seals are in good shape for their age. The engine block is not original to the car but is a mid 70's Pontiac 400 block. The heads, intake, carb, transmission, etc are original. The hood does have a bad spot where it is somewhat bent (see photo). Documentation includes PHS, new car inspection form from Sun Pontiac, original owners manuals, and tons of receipts for work done on the car over the years. The mileage is just over 100,000, but I do not recall the exact mileage. I believe it is about 108,000. The mileage is documented by the receipts. I intended to restore this car but I now need to send it to another home. Due to the rust free nature of this car it should be an easy restoration. Please do not bid if you do not intend to buy this car. Payment is due withing 3 days of auction end. I will take paypal, cash or funds issued by your bank directly to me in person, only. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally. The car can be inspected in person by serious buyers. For out of town buyers, transport is your responsibility but I will assist as I can. Please ask any questions. Good luck!
