Vehicle Detail
1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS California Special Well… it’s time… my GT/CS needs to find a new home. This car is not a stock restoration, but is rather a very tasteful restomod. The full restoration was done prior to my purchase, so I do not know the particulars of the engine work. For someone looking to return it to stock, as far as I can tell nothing was done that cannot be undone. The GT/CS is extremely rare to begin with, with only 4119 ever built. This particular car is a Marti authenticated 1 of 1 car. There is no other one quite like it in the world! Now you have the opportunity to own this unique piece of automobile history. · J-code (302 4-barrel) 4-speed (now with a nice 5-speed installed) · Has the extremely rare original Marchel fog lights (these are $1,500 by themselves if you can even find them!) · Hurst shifter · Power Steering · Power Disk Brakes · Engine has been balanced and blueprinted · Edelbrock intake · Holley Carburetor · MSD electronic ignition · Tri-Y headers · Flowmaster dual exhaust · Air shocks in back · Alpine stereo and amplifier · Restored by the prior owner shortly before I purchased it · Comes with stock rims and new tires. I also have a set of Torque Thrusts with BFG Radial T/A’s available. The car is not perfect, but is close. Known issues are: Heater controls are stuck on heat. Steering is loose (40 year old steering box is most likely the culprit). The rear wheel well trim should be replaced. The Torque-Thrust rims pictured stick out a bit in back, and if the air shocks are not pumped all the way up, they will scrub on the fender wells. This happened, and the trim was damaged. The damage is not visible unless you are looking for it, but I recommend replacing the trim anyway. There are two small spots where the paint needs to be buffed out. One is a small scratch (about an inch long) on the right rear fender near the bottom. The other is on the left rear fender and is not even visible when waxed. The stereo amplifier needs to be rewired. Whoever wired it during the restoration hooked the amplifier up to a constant power source. This causes the battery to run down in about a week if it is not disconnected. This was never a problem for me because I drove the car so little that I kept it on a battery tender. When I purchased the car two years ago, this was the ad: Professionally Restored California Special; Marti report confirms as 1 of 1 as equipped. 302ci V8 Manual Transmission PS P/DB American Racing Wheels Window Sticker Stunning Body and Paint and Interior Simply as Nice as they Come; Show Quality! This car has garnered trophies in two of the past three years at the Kruise of Klamath (It was beat out this year by a perfect 1965 fastback, a Shelby GT350H, and a heavily optioned 1969 big block Mach 1). Included in the purchase is the Elite Marti report, which proves this car’s heritage. This is the only way to tell an authentic GT/CS from a clone, and this is no clone! Winning bidder needs to deposit $500 into my Paypal account within 48 hours of auction close. The balance is to be paid by Cashier’s Check. Transportation arrangements are up to the buyer. Vehicle needs to be picked up within 30 days of auction close. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!
